Re: Carl fishing spots near Sacramento Ca

Oh and if you do hit the ponds at Natomas, I have heard that the carp are big time corn fans. Better bring out the yellow globugs

Re: Beginner's fly rod quiver advice

As someone who loves Orvis products, I would strongly recommend the clearwater line to you over the Access. Sure, the access has a bit nicer build quality to it (nicer hardware and higher quality...

Re: Carl fishing spots near Sacramento Ca

Lake Natomas, north side in the Mississippi Bar, there are a bunch of interconnected ponds that are suppose to be KILLER for carp. Never fished for carp and never fished Natomas in that area, so I...

Re: Broken Rods

The reason I bought Orvis when I was starting out was because they sold their warranty as an insurance policy. Say what you want about how you feel they are charging more because they know a certain...

Re: Adding a weedguard to a hard bug?

I have always wondered why they don't tie poppers and bugs upside down. With the hook around the back/out the top. If you used something with a big enough gap, it wouldn't be an issue and you could...

Re: Kayak fishing for beginners HELP!!

I have an 8' sit in that I have installed mounts and a fish finder. I like the smaller sizes myself; easier to carry (lighter), easier to store, and more nimble. It doesn't track as easily and isn't...

Re: Trying to understand the UL craze.

Right tool for the right job. My 1wt lands much softer than my 5wt. This is very important on those tiny high mountain Sierra streams, but then again the stream is 4' wide and the biggest fist is 10"

Re: What would you do if you encountered this?

I have to agree and add in that police don't care as much about these things anymore. Whether its budget cuts or laziness or increase in other criminal activity, break-ins are just not important and...

Re: Kayak Fishing

I picked up a dirt cheap sit in kayak myself, 9' long. Threw on quite a few rod/accessories mounts so I can move things around depending on what Im doing. Threw on a fish finder and now I have a...

Re: If you had the $$$

I think it depends on where you're fishing. Small/clear stream, the superfine would be perfect. Larger stream/river go with the Helios

Re: Tippet Ring Knot

a little off topic but I have to ask. Is there a benefit of the tippet ring over a loop-loop connection between tippet and leader?

Re: Set-Up For Bluegills

Re: Why No Fly Fishing Shows??

The one thing I hate more about the fishing shows is that they are all fish porn. There is no substance, no education, no "here is how you do this" or "try this". Its all catch all the time

Re: Ceramic one foot guides

don't forget you have to weigh the extra thread to wrap the second foot on the snake guide. Also, every place you wrap with thread, you loose flexibility. Its not much but it is noticeable if you...

Re: Never under estimate the power of the copper john!

There is a small pond by me that is very heavily fished. I would be lucky to get 1 on a popper or bugger in a day. I switched over to a small unweighted brown nymph (pheasant tails/hares ear/birds...

Re: Teaching children to fly fish

Eagle Claw makes some really inexpensive rods to start using. They are not great, but the price can't be beat. Think fiberglass, graphite can get bruised when its banged on things. Glass is much more...
