Re: spare spool alternative?

Eh it's not too bad of a process. If you have a drill its even quicker but having two people sure helps, especially for loading the reel back up. Otherwise I usually end up trying to hold the spool...

Re: What switch rod?

Echo SR comes in a 1006-5. I have the 1010-6 and love it. I believe the msrp is about 329 and with this new batch as of somewhat recently they got rid of that god awful seafoam green blank.

Re: Taking 6 Days in Colorado, where too?

You could also head up north to the north Platte around Walden. Great fishing, not a lot of people around.Delaney buttes is also right there if you wanna go chuck some giant streamers all night. That...

Re: I miss my flyrods

Dude, I feel ya. I've been in basic training for the last two and a half months and I'll be in AIT until November. NO fishing time at all. Even if there was my rods are a couple thousand miles away....

Re: warmwater pics

I have been throwing my 6wt CPX and haven't had any problems with run-of-the-mill 6-10lb commons compared to my buddy w/ an 8wt Echo 3s (I'd consider both to be fairly light, fast rods.)

Re: Streamers, How I got Hooked on Swinging;

These may not fit perfectly in this thread but here is my most recent creation that I'm quite fond of. Haven't thrown them in rivers too much yet, and I'm still not exactly how swinging works, but...

Re: Runoff...good news/bad news

The runoff from those last two big snowstorms the last couple weeks have turned the Poudre rather funky colored as well. Last time I really fished it was in the canyon in some of the sketchiest...

Re: What Makes a Great Fly-Shop?

Above all, I agree w/ dwtalso. The people that are in the shop set it apart. If the people there are the type who want me to buy something or leave, I'll be damn sure never to go in there again. But...

Re: Ever get one of those knots.....

Re: Pet Peeve's.............

When I let him fish my rod and he hands it back with the grip all wet. And we usually snag each others' lines at least once per trip but I guess that has become the norm

Re: Welded loop - lurker

Use the loop-to-loop method mentioned above, as it's probably the easiest. If I ever have a line that doesn't have a loop, I will tie a loop into it with a nail knot and a piece of mono. If you just...

Re: Ever have a reel freeze?

Yep. On the North Platte last November-ish on my Guru. Froze between the spool and frame and constantly had to be breaking it loose.

Re: Why you should wear eyewear!!

I'll definitely be getting a pair of clear lens glasses for night after seeing this. During the day, no matter what I have my sunglasses on while fishing, but it easily skips my mind at night....
