Re: Need advice from some sages about Sages

I fish a Sage XP 5wt 9' 2pc and a old Winston IM6 5wt 8'6" 2pc, IMO both outstanding rods. The Sage is very nice on larger streams with larger flies and especially for nymphing (also use it for...

If any member has a Sage XP 8wt 9' 2pc in excellent condition that they're interested in selling, please drop me a line.

Re: Wild Paint Job

Once I saw some of these wilder reels in person my opinion changed. I now think they are very "cool" when I originally thought them a bit weird. I've seen some bright red reels that appealed to me...

Re: Any flies for carp

I believe there are several books on carp fishing with the fly. Might pay to do a search on Amazon or some such. Probably a few good pointers to be had.

Need Blk Flashback Pheasant Tails

Hello,
Any suggestions where I might find some good quality black flashback pheasant tail nymphs in #16 & #18?
Prefer USA tied flies if possible.

Re: 3 weight

If you don't mind used, an older Winston IM6 rod would IMO fit the bill. But the best suggestion I can make would be an older (1980s) Thomas & Thomas SDF (Special Dry Fly). I believe this was an 8' 4...

Re: Questions about a new book?

I've done a little surfing on this and found out that Merlin Unwin Books is a UK publisher of sporting (fishing, hunting etc.) subject books. Their net site lists about a half dozen reviews of this...

Re: Questions about a new book?

Both are listed as hardcover. Guess I should have mentioned it in my original post. From what I can see of the book, looks mighty impressive. At that price point though, would like to hear some...

Re: Discount Flies??

I've been buying discount flies for years now from Little Dixie Flies in MO. Not only are the flies of excellent quality but I believe they are tied in the USofA.
The quality is excellent!

Questions about a new book?

I've got several questions about a new book that came out recently; "The Complete Illustrated Directory of Salmon & Steelhead Flies" by Chris Mann.

Re: New to the forum!!!

Yes, maintenance of effective riparian zones cannot be over emphasized. Although in the case of SE MN the unique geography seems to contribute to the flooding problems as well. Floods and fires are...

Re: New to the forum!!!

PS: If I lived where you do, things would be different! BTW: How did all those storms last year affect the fishing? I read bad things about the Whitewater.

Re: Need a new fishing bag

The Brady is beautifully made but the material is a sandwich with rubber in between. This rubber stiffens over the years and becomes brittle. The whole bag degenerates after that. I have owned...

Need a new fishing bag

Never liked vests so have used a bag for years. My Brady Ariel bag (which I bought new in the 80s) has given up the ghost. I would buy another Brady if it were made from modern materials.
I'm...
