I don't feel bad at all. The fish was fine. I caught him and he was a bleeder, I put him back and caught him a year later (and an inch or two longer). So clearly he was no worse for the wear.

On rivers, I mostly wade just to get from one side of the river to the other, unless there's a lot of vegetation or a unique current and I have to get in the river to be able to cast.

Use a DT. They're basically the same for the first 30', and with a DT, you can turn it around when it starts to wear out and get two lines for the price of one.

You can safely say that there are no trout streams anywhere close to Williston. You're moving there for the money, but be prepared to give up any sense of recreation...
