Re: What Do Catfish Eat?

For whatever reason, all of the catfish I've caught were on a size 10 black Gillbuster. Very easy to tie and very effective. Even better if you add rubber legs.

Re: Night fly fishing

try something with a big deer hair head like a muddler or a zoo cougar in black that will push a lot of water. Heavy leader too. straight mono works fine.

Re: Temple fork finesse 7'9' 4 wt. Best line

I've got a Scientific Anglers GPX on mine because that's what's on my 4wt reel right now. With a double haul I can cast almost the whole line. That rod continues to amaze me. I have a Rio Gold for...

Re: Need some opinions.....TFO vs. St. Croix

Take a look at the TFO Finesse series. They have a more moderate action which might make a better first rod. I have one in a 4wt and like it much better than the pro series.

Re: Does Cabelas Watershed Reel Look Like a Ross Rhythm??

I was thinking the same thing. It looks like they took a Rhythm and ported the frame a little more. Spools look identical. The font of the lettering on the reel seat even looks the same.

Re: Ross Fatal Flaw Design...I Was Right...Sort Of

I reel LH too. Incoming sounds different, but I don't think its louder. sounds better going out for sure. My Evo's incoming is louder than my Rhythm even though they have identical drags. Both...

Re: Ross Fatal Flaw Design...I Was Right...Sort Of

that's the same guy I talked to. Nice fellow. He really took the time to make sure I didn't have a bad drag. As long as yours weren't manufactured in the first year you're good to go.

Re: Ross Fatal Flaw Design...I Was Right...Sort Of

I got off the phone with Ross today and they told me that the plus type screws were the newer ones. He even hung up and went to go find out for sure and called me back later. They also...

Re: Ross Fatal Flaw Design...I Was Right...Sort Of

Ross customer service is second to none. Those old rings cause the drag to free spool if they get wet. The new ones correct the problem. Good thing you called! I love Ross reels.

Re: Fly Boxes

The small C&F box with the swing leaf holds an insane amount of flies. I got three regular boxes worth of trout flies in one of them. Frees up a lot of room in your vest or pack. A little pricey,...

Re: studs and wax

if you wax your ferrules you only need to do it about once a year. Apply a small amount, not too much. Rubbing the end against your nose to get a little oil from your face does the same thing. If...

Re: sage zxl vs winston biix in 3wt

I have a 8.5' 3wt ZXL and love it. Smooth casting and a very versatile rod. I think you would be happy with one.

Re: What's the Best Fly Rod under $60 New? - your input wanted

I started with a Cabela's 3 forks 3wt. I liked it a lot. Wish I still had it. Great beginner rod.

Re: Ross Evolution

I wouldn't have passed that up either. That's a fine reel even at retail price. They are saltwater safe. Good drag. Ross's customer service is second to none. Enjoy your new reel.

Re: Dressing a modern floating fly line.

Most premium lines like SA and Rio do not require dressing. Just run them through a cleaning pad or cloth after use. If they are really dirty you can soak them in water with a couple of drops of...
