Received my 4wt with a trout reel and line. Very impressed with everything, the rods fit and finish is very nice and from casting in the yard is smooth and fast. I have owned Allen reels since they...

Re: Montana Trip Inquiry

Don't rule out the MO...Missouri. If you want to catch Alaska size Trout go to Craig. Most fish per mile than anyother river in MT. Talk to Cross Currents and you can take a jet boat ride up to the...

Don't pass up the Mighty MO

If you're going to hit up several rivers and want to hook into BIG trout you have to fish the Missouri. You could fly into Helena, fish the MO (I bet you'll want to do more than one day once you hook...

Re: First Switch Rod

Well based on this I think I might ask for a Classic 6/7 and steel head 9wt line....SA line should work the same should it not?

Re: First Switch Rod

I'm surprised more haven't praised the Echo SR since with all the searching I have done a lot of folks really seem to like that rod. I am leaning more towards the Beulah because it looks like a...

Re: First Switch Rod

What about the St. Croix Imperial. I noti6ed Fly Fisherman Mag gave it best value?
I wish the Orvis Access came in a 6wt. I think that could be a great bang for the buck rod.

First Switch Rod

After wading on the Missouri and not having enough room for a back cast or the wind is being a pain I've been talked into trying a switch rod.
I don't want to break the bank so I'm considering and...

Re: albright rods

Some sporting goods stores somehow get their own models. I bought a North Face tent from one with a model name that didn't exist anywhere else. I wonder if Albright didn't do the same thing.

Re: Has anyone here been to Big Sky, Montana?

BS is less than an hour from Yellowstone where there are TONS of places to fish.
The Gallatin will be the closest and is a good river to fish. You can also head N. towards Ennis and fish the Madison...

Re: Loomis guru or Orvis large arbor battenkill?

I've never heard of a Loomis Guru....Lamson Guru I have.
The Ross F1 retails for $450+ so it is not even close to the same price range.
I have been looking at these two reels myself...Lamson Guru...

Re: Problems with My Alpha

It's probably from your casting stroke. I have a Alpha and Trout and don't really have this problem.

Re: sage Z-Axis question

I just recently bought a 9' 5wt z-axis and love it. I'd recommend a 1/2 wt heavier line line Rio Grand or SA GPX. As far as length I'd agree with TTB that a 9' will work better for nymphing but if...

Re: New Yellowstone Angler 8 Weight Shootout Discussion

I wonder if Allen Co. got in on the shootout? Justin said he talked to them. Would be interesting to see how the Nano stacks up against the highend rods.

Re: Allen Nano Ti

Well I did break mine and I AM pissed that I broke it. Justin told me he was out of Nanos so I got depressed that I lost my favorite rod. Went to put money down on a Z-Axis I found for $350, got...

Re: Allen Nano Ti

Has anyone played around with different lines yet?
I have only been using Allen line but I think this rod might benefit from a wt1/2 higher line like Rio Grand or SA GPX.
I'm really tempted to try...

Anyone else tried either of these two rods (Passport or Vapor)?
They are selling the Vapor at 20% off so the Vapor is only $50 more now.
I did read where one of the testers on the Yellowstone...

Re: Used BIIMX or New BVK

After some researching I think the BVK might be out.
What about the Winston VSL or Passport? I know the Passport did well on the 5wt shootout.
I pretty much want to stay under $300 and get a few...

Used BIIMX or New BVK

I'm looking for a 4wt rod. I pretty much narrowed it down to a used Winston BIIMX I found for $325. Sounds like they will fix non warrantied rods for about $125
Otherwise I was looking at...

Re: Sage Warrenty Switchup - this is not my rod?

My buddy sent his broken SP in and we are almost certain they gave him back a VXP. The interesting part is it says SP on it but the reel seat is different, it's lighter and it's not nearly as stiff...
