Re: Bauer, Galvan and Abel SD

I have a Bauer Rogue and it's easily one of the smoothest reels I own. I love it and I seriously wished I bought more.

Re: Recommended fly rod for 8wt Rio Outbound

I cast that line on my Scott S4s 8wt and on occasion my Heliply 7wt. The 7wt is a little soft for that line but it will put out more that 40ft all day long.

Re: Is Abel Losing Traction......

The madness will stop once their stuff and the threads inspired are moved offshore.

Re: Is Abel Losing Traction......

What ever comes out of it still won't match the greatness of Abel nipper threads.

Re: Is Abel Losing Traction......

Both of these reels have been such a pleasure to use. Despite people saying they are heavy, they balance my 8wt and 10wt Scott s4s's perfectly both in feel and aesthetics. Are there better reels?...

Re: Is Abel Losing Traction......

Bottom line is the FF industry seems to be losing traction. I recently moved back home to the DFW area and was a little surprised to see there is only one fly shop in town now where as there used to...

Re: Moving to Warm Water Country - Couple Questions

Oh to be back in Texas in the spring with a 4wt when the sandies are running. Better than buttered sex.

There is such a diversity of things that will take flies. Don't get rid of your trout...

Re: Tibor evrglades vs Abel Super sÚrie

The enemy of good is better. Don't worry about which is best, they are both fine reels. That said, I personally find the Abels a little more elegant than the Tibors though.

Re: Scott G, G-2, G-3 thread...

My first saltwater rod was a Heliply 7wt. I went in for an 8wt but left with the 7wt. I still have it and still fish it. It has seen about 6 different reels since I bought it but found it's soulmate...

Re: Need Advice: Reel for 9 wt

I'd recommend the $300 Old Florida you scored off eBay. Well done.

Re: Scott Heads - Any S4s Guys Moving Up To Meridian?

Meridian? They are interesting but I don't see myself picking one up unless something crazy happens. I love my S4s's.

Re: 10 weight: Sage Salt, Scott S4, GLoomis NRX

I have a S4s 10wt and it's a sweat heart. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another although I would wiggle the NRX pretty hard just to be sure. If there is indeed a new Scott upend salt stick coming out,...

Re: Scott Heliply in 9 or 10wt for sale?

Good luck finding one. I have 7wt I considered selling a long while ago, then I took it out and casted it and fell in love again. HP were such nice rods.

Re: Arsenal is complete!

Not even done, you still need an 8wt and a 10wt. Everybody needs an 8wt and a 10wt.

Re: Loomis NRX Trout

If the stars align and I manage to hold my mouth just right, I may be the owner of a 7wt NRX. I have casted a couple NRXs and each one was a true pleasure. Been lusting over one for a while now. This...

Re: Abel reel choice

One thing that is for sure, you will enjoy your reel. Actually I should say reels as you will more than likely buy another one.

Have you tried the Short Stix yet? Been hearing good things that have me curious.

Re: New 8wt: Scott Tidal vs Sage Motive vs Winston Nexus

I wouldn't dare compare my HP to other rods, I know better than that. As far as other brands go, I would love to have a NRX. I had a hard time putting one down a while back, I just kept wanting to...

Re: New 8wt: Scott Tidal vs Sage Motive vs Winston Nexus

Funny, I don't think my 8wt could easily confused with a 9wt. It is a sweetheart, not too fast at all. It's the rod I grab when I know I am going to be casting a lot. It has a really nice pace and...

Re: Favorite 7 weight & line

I have a Scott HP 7wt. It's a fantastic bass rod. I used it for several years on redfish when I lived in Corpus. Didn't really understand it at the time but I got a smoking deal on it when Scott...

Re: 2015 Yellowstone Angler 5-Weight Shoot-Out

Despite the well thought out and hopefully good intentioned review, when it comes time for me buying a new 5wt, it will be a Scott G2 8'8". I guess in the end if you have been around long enough, you...

Re: New 8wt: Scott Tidal vs Sage Motive vs Winston Nexus

I personally have no experience with any of those rods but I do have a Scott S4s 8wt that I wouldn't trade for anything. If you were to force me to sum up the Scott vs Sage question I'd say Sage...

I only drink water while I'm fishing but after I enjoy a couple fingers of a nice rum.

I love these threads, they never seem to get old. In fact, probably the only thing that will outlast my Abel nippers.

Re: Bauer RX

I LOVE my Rogue. The only thing Bauer is lacking on is their advertising. I sure hope they sell plenty of RX's. They look like an heavier duty Rogue, not that it needs to be beefed up any. Their...
