Like a breath of spring just blew through my house! Beautiful scenery, fish, and a great fly. Couldn't ask for more. Thanks!

Great post for us to be inspired by as this latest blizzard pounds us.

Re: Age of folks on the forum

Fly fishing is something everyone can enjoy no matter what their age. But the one thing I have learned is that the older you get, the tougher you have to be to fish where and how you want to.

Re: Fishing pack for tall people

I suggest that you don't do a combo. Find a good small to mid sized backpack that is comfortable and light for you lunch and other hiking items. I think hiking outlets are better for this than...

Re: Central Utah trip recommendations?

It would help to know what time of year you are going and some other information.

What do you consider "Central Utah", from where to where?

Do you have a link to a trip report from last year?...

Re: Fly Tying with Organza???

I think that he cut it from the ribbon. If you watch his Organza CDC Caddis video he gives a good shot of the ribbon. It has the border on it that shows in this PT nymph one.

Depending on what dexterity they have some of these may help.

Probably the best would be to use a No Knot Fast Snap

Re: Materials That Float, Materials That Sink

Yes, I like that little minnow. Polar fiber looks good too.

I didn't have any epoxy with me, but I am thinking that even a little dab of Zap-A-Gap may helped a lot. Having the UV cure glue...

Re: Materials That Float, Materials That Sink

Thank you all for the help. There are so many good suggestions that I can't list them all. I am going to try the EP fibers and semi seal first I think.

Silver Creek was right in that what I...

Re: Great News for us in Utah.

The ruling is based on a provision in the Utah State Constitution, so it probably won't have any carryover to other states.

Re: Pre-Storm Fishing

Beautiful fish and flies as usual. Love your posts. Those rainbows are a nice healthy handful. Good to see them putting on the fat.

Seems like fall fishing has been too short yet again. I'm...

Materials That Float, Materials That Sink

I have tried searching on here, but haven't really come up with a decent list of material properties.

I used wool fibers for the main body of a streamer I use. I love how the wool holds shape...

Re: Leaders: Replacing tippet rings with Micro swivels ??

I use them on my sinking line and for streamers. I thought they were too big for dries, but maybe you have some smaller. Do you have a package picture or maybe some numbers from the package so we...

Re: More from the Front Range

Nice looking fish!
I too have never had a fly line snap, and I use some pretty old and beat-up lines sometimes.

Did you take a picture of the two ends where it broke? I am thinking that it...

Re: What is in you vest/pack?

I think what you carry depends a lot on where you fish, the time of year, and what kind of fish you are after.

For example in the winter time I drastically reduce the number and type of flies...

Re: Do you take any special precautions when fishing during hunting season?

The thing to consider is not that most hunters shoot at anything that moves, they don't, but that they know where you are so that accidents don't happen.

I've done a fair bit of hunting, and I...

I don't know on the fly line but, I do recognize the ring. The tippet ring is actually a ring on the end of a barbed spike that slides up into the fly line. Long long ago I had one that I used on a...
