Re: My Fly Fishing Celebrity encounter

I have had the opportunity to guide several famous folks. I don't really watch movies or TV, so most of them I had no idea why they were in the public eye. Most were really fun and I could sense the...

Re: What did you do with your convential gear when you made the switch?

A couple times per season take that old gear out and use it! You will learn/relearn stuff that might just improve your fly fishing. I have a couple of spinning outfits that ride in my drift boat...

Re: Drop Shot Nymphing

I stand corrected. Bounce Nymphing it is! Hats off to Mr. Tullis and all he has done for our way of life on the water for sure.

Out here bounce nymphing is popular on some waters and not on...

Drop Shot Nymphing

I have experimented with the Kelly Gallop version of drop shot nymphing. I love how it presents the flies when walk wade fishing, but larger fish over 18" or so seem to break off more easily. Anyone...

Re: Drift Boat remodel

I did just that Dave!

Basically it sounds like I need to build a false floor in the rowers area. This can sure be done but this is starting to feel like a bigger job than I want to take on.

Re: Drift boat value

It is BEAT UP! I mean its solid still... but it has been used hard (by me) for almost 20 years, averaging 90 floats a year. I have patched up the bad dings on the bottom and chines over and over,...

Re: Video - Probably posted before but worth a second look.

So I am not an overly emotional guy but I confess that choked me up.

My Grandfather had Parkinsons and I was the last person to take him fishing. I wish I had been as skilled as the guide in the...

Re: Borger Thingamabobber Modifications

They don't damage the line and they don't slip or swell, and the leader can't catch on the toothpick.

That said it does make it more time consuming to change from nymphs to dries to whatever...

Re: Borger Thingamabobber Modifications

The big problem I have with Thingamabobbers (and other indicators like them) is the line can easily hook around it on the forward stroke if you accidentally toss a tailing loop on the back cast. This...
