Re: Canoe?

If you google the Front Royal Canoe Company you can contact them for any used canoes. They are on the Shenandoah and rent Wenonah and Old Town canoes and will likely work with you on buying a new or...

Re: Canoe vs Kayak vs Pontoon

Hi Bill, That Fisherman canoe is pretty wide and could be a challenge to track as a solo canoe on flat lake water with a breeze. The widest I'd go is 35" with the Heron, Aurora, or Solo Plus if you...

Re: Anchor rope?

So last Sunday my son and I were out slinging poppers and I hooked into a tree limb. Instead of pulling up the anchor to go retrieve the fly, I told my son to untie us and leave the rope in the...

Re: Watercraft Advice Needed

Todd, the block is just a standard roof top canoe carrying foam block that comes in a set of four. It just slips on and is great for holding flies at the ready (See pic below). I have no experience...

Re: Watercraft Advice Needed

That's a lot of questions but I'll add my 50 year old experience. I fly fish from a canoe just about every weekend and have found my Wenonah Heron is a great platform for solo and tandem fishing. ...

Re: What happened over the 4th of July weekend

Dam!! I thought you were going to say she was chucking streamers with a ten foot 8WT. Throw some ice on it and mend well. Good luck.

Re: Hot Weather Bass

Hi Mark, I'm no expert but I find that casting poppers into covered/shaded areas produces strikes. Usually overhangs and fallen trees under shade is where these guys hang out when it's hot and sunny....

Re: Solo canoe Fly fishing?

An anchor makes all the difference when fly fishing alone. Recommend using anything nontoxic and heavy that you won't be sorry to cut loose if it gets snagged.

Re: Solo canoe Fly fishing?

Random canoe fishing pics from today. Had a blast and was killing them with poppers. As usual nobody wanted to come so I went solo. Enjoy.

Re: Solo canoe Fly fishing?

I love fishing in my canoe solo and tandem. I use a fifteen foot Heron which is flat bottom and although doesn't track great, it's very stable for casting. Usually my son goes with me and rows but I...

Re: Surprise !

I caught a huge snapping turtle bass fishing in Virginia Beach. It was like reeling in hunk of cement but I finally pulled him on shore. Tried to get the hook out with a stick but he would just...

Re: Casting fatigue question

I do something similar to my elbow when casting heavy weight slow rods. It's like tennis elbow. You may want to look into wearing a thumb-wrist wrap that you can adjust the tension. sf

Loop is one of my favorite rods. What are you interested in for trades? Do you need a 6 wt?

Re: Anyone fished in South Korea?

There are quite a few places on the eastern side of the peninsula. I fly fished there for years and found some great places in the Nurinchong and Odechong rivers. If you do a search on this site for...

Re: 6wt Recommendation

In walks me with an oddball recommendation. A little over your budget is a 6wt GLoomis Pro4x that I've found to be a versatile rod that does everything very good. I lined mine with a SA Lefty Kreh WF...

Re: Sage VXP vs Flight/Response

I compared the VXP and Response side by side when I was looking for an 8wt. The VXP loaded smoother and I could feel it flex better during my back cast. My two cents. Both are great rods and if...

Re: Gooseneck lamp?

If you're looking for portable and inexepensive checkout Barnes and Noble for book lights. They're around $10-$30 and last a long time. You could even pick up two so you have all-around lighting.
