Re: The Cost of a great fishing trip...?

Most years I camp and fish an average of 40 to 80 days a year.

I use a 2006 Toyota Tacoma V6 to tow a 6 X 12 converted cargo camper. It weighs about 1700lbs.

Re: Alright, what gives!?!

Sounds like you are on the right path. Don't get discouraged. Most of what you described is pretty standard for stream fishing. Even after you have been fly fishing for years the same things will...

Re: Wyoming Dry Fly Fishing with Forum Members--Round 3

I love your reports and pictures, Larry. They keep the days bright and hopeful when I don't have a chance to get out myself. Good to see you guys doing well in this challenging weather!

Re: Yellowstone Experience - Crowds an Anomaly for 2015?

Not only the forums, but lots of other media as well, including online magazines and YouTube. You aren't going to hide these rivers that have been written about for 50 years, but I do agree with not...

Re: south fork snake fishing and camping

Larry is spot on with some great places to fish. My vote would be with some of these areas.

I would suggest that you hire a guide and drift boat if you fish the South Fork. If you must wade...

Re: Camper/Trailer Stories....

Mine is a compromise between a rv trailer and a tent. Think of it as a large metal tent that is ready to go to the rough wild places.

I have a 6X12 converted cargo trailer. It has 100 watt...

Re: Nice brown I caught Silver Creek, Idaho

Thanks. I was curious as I know that there is concern about the low water and rising water temps at Silver Creek for this year.

Re: Knee pads (under or over waders)

I frequently use kneepads.

I fish a lot of crystal clear small streams that require a stealth approach if you want to catch anything. The kneepads save wear and tear on both my knees and...

West Side of YNP - rivers

We've been on a sightseeing only trip to Yellowstone National Park for the last 4 days. No chance to fish this time, but it sure looked good. The Gibbon, Firehole, numerous small streams, and the...

Re: Fly fishing Umpa Lumpa

In wading boots try on a size 5 or maybe even 6 in men's boots. Be sure to try them on with a neoprene wader sock of the right size. A size 7 in women's also may fit you with the extra thickness of...

Re: Idaho...best time in the next couple months?

I have no idea what the river flows are on the Boise right now, but you can usually fish right in town. You might check on the flows for the South Fork of the Boise up above town too.

I love water! I love it so much I seem to wallow around in just about every piece of it I come across. Thankfully I usually fish areas that have few other people, so my embarrassment is confined...

Re: Fishing the Green River: Spring Runoff has Arrived!

Well done! Too bad on losing the big boys, but it is sure hard to keep them on those small hooks in the current.

And a laker! Nice surprise.

Re: Upper Soda Butte Creek Trout to be Eradicated

From what I have read so far, the real problem that needs to be eliminated is the brook trout population. Sure it is small, and they have tried for years to hand remove them. It hasn't worked. Now...

Re: Anybody here use a float tube and cannot swim?

Lots of good advise for all on here. Learning to swim better is good, but the life jacket is the most important factor.

I grew up on a commercial fishing boat. I also swim well, but I still...
