Only have experience with an older Fenwick 755, Phillipson 7'6" 6 wt, and Cabelas CGR 7' 4/5. For the money the CGR is hard to beat, and Cabela's drops the price on occasion. I believe I paid around...

That rod is a classic and personally I wouldn't touch the reel seat. In fact I'd wager it's a little more rare due to the sliding rings and I think the more common version had a down locking seat but...

Thanks for the recommendations guys ! Received the rod yesterday and it is absolutely gorgeous in my opinion, but I do like the look of an unsanded blank. Quite a bit different to cast than the Orvis...
