Question Line for Scott Radian 6wt?

Unfortunately I wrecked my Rio Gold and now need a new line. The Gold was on a Scott S4 6wt so when I got the Radian by default I used the Rio Gold. Now that I need a new line the door is open for...

Re: Knots

It's simple to test these knots.

1. Get 2 hooks of the same size and manufacturer.
2. A spool of tippet or fishing line.
3. Tie on one hook using one knot, tie on another hook with a different...

Recently I broke m favorite pair of sunglasses which had built in readers. The problem is now these sunglasses are no longer being made. I've tried on a number of glasses and found a pair of Costa's...

Re: Winston Buys Bauer Reels.

I have a Rouge 5 and a buddy has a RX 6. Workmanship is as good as any reel out there, period. The drag is silky smooth. I don't live in the NW but they have a huge following there. These are...

Re: Knots

The Double Davy is my go to non-loop knot now also. In my testing it beats all others 100% of the time.

Re: How far can you cast into the wind?

Interesting video. The reason I ask,I've been working on my double haul. It's not going bad, it just got me wondering about how far a good double haul can go directly into the wind say with an 8wt...

How far can you cast into the wind?

I'm curious as to how far an "expert" caster or at least highly competent caster can cast directly into say a 15/20 mph wind. This assume no worries of structure on the back cast, think bonefish...

Re: Best knot, tippet to fly

In my testing the Double Davy is the best, easy to tie also. Jacks Knot had been my go to for the pas couple years, swapped to the DD this summer.

Re: Sage VXP from Cabelas arrived...but NO case/rod tube

One more reason to avoid Cabelas and others like them. Something like that wouldn't happen with a non-corporate shop unless the shop owner made it clear the condition of he rod. My advice return the...

Re: Radian or Meridian

I would agree with that. Pluses to the Meridian, great light or backup saltwater rod. Radian, great trout rod all around.

Meridian wouldn't be embarrassed in a freshwater situation, Nor the...

I was in the same place as you about a month ago except I wanted a 6wt, finally got cast both. In the end I got the Radian because it was going to be an all around rod. If would have been a dedicated...

Re: A few observations from the Cabelas Fly Catalog.

I never said that you or he shouldn't shop there, you have one you like go for it. If their prices were better or service was better I would be all for it, in fact if your Cabela's give the best...

Re: A few observations from the Cabelas Fly Catalog.

Good for you, glad they work for you. My experience in every Cabela's I've ever entered is that while the minimum wage sales clerks may be friendly, they have zero expertise in what they sell. If...

Re: A few observations from the Cabelas Fly Catalog.

I for can't stand Cabela's. Cabela's, Bass Pro, Gander Mountain and the like are driving the small fly shops, gun shops, camp stores, etc out of business around the country. Personally I have a hard...

Re: Scott Radian 6wt - Fighting butt or no?

I decided to go with the Radian w/fighting butt. I got a chance to cast a Meridian, if this was going to be a streamer rod the Meridian would have been the bomb! However as an all around rod when...

Re: Scott Radian 6wt - Fighting butt or no?

Off on a slight tangent, I would like to see rod makers build a rod with a detachable fighting butt.
