Re: A short outing...

Nice trip report, great pictures. Hitting the river this weekend with the Iwana and Amago. If I ever take a camera I will have to post some shots.

Re: Bluegills on the fly (Tulsa, OK)

I use a lot of soft hackle flies and smaller sizes that work very well. I tend to get more bites and hook ups with 12 to 14 size flies. Contrast the water clarity helps. I use slight hits of...

Re: Looking for Striper rod info!

I have a G.Loomis 9'9" Crosscurrent 8wt and use 350 Streamer Express on it for stripers. Great rod and outfit. Pulled on some nice size fish no problem.

Cheers,
Craig

Re: ross f1

The F1 is a fine reel to say the least. I have the 1.5 I use on my 4wt when fishing bigger than normal water, otherwise I use my Hardy 2000CC. Great reel, little heavy but super drags system, and...

Re: Loomis Pro4X 10' 3wt

I don't know this particular rod but I would try and contact either 'Loomis in Woodland Wa. or Leland Tackle Shop in Sonoma CA., they seem to know a lot about Loomis gear.

Re: Line for Amago.

Talk to TUSA about the line for the Amago. Said the 4.5 level line is great and a 3-5' 5X tippet as a basic set up. Using nymphs right now so i'll give it a go and change up where needed. Thanks.

Re: what do think about bauer reelsiu

I have one Bauer, its a M4 that I have had for years. This is a fine reel and the finish stills looks great. Nothing bad to say about it.

Re: Sunglasses

I have Costa's and Smiths. I love them both, however the 580 lens on the Costa's are off the hook for fishing. Well constructed and all, but if you go with them check the warranty costs! Sent a...

Re: Nymph Rod?

Planettrout, fished the East Walker River last year, and I would use a 5wt on that piece of water, toad trout in there! The LO and Kern have big fish, but a lot of stocked fish and I was figuring...

Re: Nymph Rod?

jpbfly, seems I keep reading a lot of guys are using lighter rods, 3-4 wt stuff. That's why I am asking. I fish the Kern River and Owens River out here so not sure what's the best choice. How do...

Nymph Rod?

Thinking of getting a dedicated rod for this. I don't nymph a lot but I am going to start doing it more seriously. I live in California, right now low clear water is the norm. So 3wt or 4wt 10' to...

Went onto this site but could not find a way to navigate thru it to any fishing items. Is the home page items the only things for sale?

Re: Indicators for nymphing.

Wow, lots of great info here to research and figure out. The river I fish is low and clear this year so that will have to be considered. Thanks all for the wealth of info again. I always know I will...

Re: Loomis NRX

Wow, all the 'Loomis fans have come out of the closet. I have 30 some 'loomis rods but only 4 are fly rods. Great to see something other than Sage fans here. Yes I have 1 Sage ONE rod, and I like...

Re: GLX WhisperCreek 2 weight

I have the Whispercreek in a 8'8" 3wt and LOVE this rod for dries. It's light and can cast great loops and toss a fly where you want it. It is made for delicate placement and wary fish. If you get...

Indicators for nymphing.

First, I hate to nymph fish, but I have to learn. 30 years of fly fishing and I tried it once before, for about 15 min. Caught a trout, quite by accident I am sure. I just bought a place on a river...

Re: Sage One finally came, and...

Nice outfit! I have a ONE 5wt as well. Was wondering what reel you would use. Looks great. How's the balance with the Galvin? I have a Abel 5N and it is a nice fit.

Re: Abel Super 5N or 4N?

I am adding my two cents, for me, because I have one I like the 5N on my Sage One. Balance is great and casting is smoooth.
