Re: What have you been tying today?

After finishing my swap flies, I decided to start messing with articulation. I still need a lot more practice (obviously). This is my first fly using arctic fox and wool. It's going to move a lot...

Re: Best all around bass rod for rivers?

I'll give my two cents, since you asked. Are you new to flyfishing, or just bass on the fly?

In freshwater, the size of the rod is directly correlated to the size of the fly and the distance...

Re: Where Da Walleye?......Contest....

I know where it is as well, but haven't seen it personally. I was going to have my portion of the gift (either flies or cash) go to the charities, but I'm waiting for more wrong guesses to add to...

Re: What is the worst fly fishing commercial or movie scene?

I just saw a commercial that made me think of this thread. I was watching a fishing show with my son (he prefers them to cartoons), and this ad came on for some sort of magnifying glasses. One of...

Re: Cleaning a soiled cork grip.

I've never tried to clean a grip, but now that I think about it, the lathe would be a last ditch effort.

Re: Cleaning a soiled cork grip.

I've never built my own grips, but that was my first thought. Get it on a lathe, chuck it up on a drill, etc. Then just lightly touch the cork with the sandpaper. Good luck.

Re: Florida get together.

Just don't bring them into the boat, you'll have "cheetos" everwhere.

Re: Allen 3wt setup

What's the action on the rod? I'm actually looking for a small stream Brookie rig for northern MI streams. What kind of trade value do you put on it? Thanks.

Re: More Dopes on Dope Harming Wildlife

My sister in-law grew up in northern California, and still lives there with my brother and two kids. She says the pot farmers are destroying the rivers. The chemicals used, using river water for...

I don't keep fish, but I've heard from numerous folks that Mora is THE knife. Very reasonably priced too.

Re: Streamer Fly Swap, Fall 2014

Do you mind if I tie 2 in the "bassy/pike" colors? I'm trying to knock these out tonight, and I'm running a bit low on the black ice dub. I can go to the fly shop tomorrow, if it's a problem. No...

Re: Bitterroot, "Epic MT" video

I wasn't posting that for the money, just showing the graphic about the demand for accountants.

I need to do some more research on cost of living, housing, schools, etc., before taking my case to...

I'm in. I just started tying this fall, but these causes are something I fully support. My grandmother passed from breast cancer. My aunt is a survivor. My mom was the chair at Komen here in...

I have the 9'. I use it for smallies locally, flats down in FL and salmon in northern MI. I hooked into 4 salmon this fall and the rod held up great. It was my first time, so I don't how the BVK...

Re: General Saltwater Combo

I use an 8 wt. BVK and Allen Alpha III reel for smallies in the river, bucket mouths in the ponds and lakes and for the flats in The Keys. Zero complaints.
