Re: Heilos or Sage one

This should prob be in the fly rod gear section, but anyway...Neither, Scott Radian. If you are already set on one of these 2 I'd go Sage ONE.

Re: Moving sale: Sage, Scott and St. Croix rods

What's in round 2?! Lol

If I were you my goal would be to not sell anything. Then tell your wife you made your best effort. Then keep everything!

Re: Anyone not use tippet? fly right to leader

Fred,

I've been considering trying out the tippet rings. What size do you suggest for 6x & 5X tapered leaders? When you put the leader on do you cut off the tippet section to add the ring or do...

Re: My Next Next Rod...PA Small Streams

gretch6364, so if I'm hearing you correctly you feel the 8'4" 4wt is too similar to what I have. Is that correct? That was my initial concern, but most of the comments here lead me to believe that...

8'4" & 8'8"

---------- Post added at 09:08 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:02 PM ----------

gretch6364, I think that is prob the end game for me. Go with the G2 8'4" 4wt first and then...

Re: My Next Next Rod...PA Small Streams

labtrout, I am a Scott guy, no doubt about that! To be completely honest for me to buy a rod other than Scott I'd have to fall in love with it as I don't think I've ever held a rod by them that I...

Re: My Next Next Rod...PA Small Streams

Good stuff guys! Based on what I'm hearing I am starting to lean toward a 4wt over the 3wt. I think initially I was considering the 3wt because I was worried the 4wt would be too similar to the 5wt...

Re: My Next Next Rod...PA Small Streams

I'm sure both were great dry fly rods, but how were they at nymphing? What difference did you see between the 2 rods?

Re: My Next Next Rod...PA Small Streams

A 2wt and 5wt are out of the question. I already have a 5wt and I agree with the comments that the 2wt is more specialized than I'm looking for.

Labtrout, what made you go with the 7'7" G2 and...

My Next Next Rod...PA Small Streams

Hey guys,

So I've obviously been bitten by the fly fishing bug. Got into it a few months back starting out with a 10' 8wt Orvis Clearwater outfit for salmon/steelhead/smallmouth and made my way...

Re: Good day today...new toys and gear

Between the new Simms Headwaters and Pat Atom Sling. Usually a Simms guy, but the Pat Sling seems pretty sweet!

Re: Maggot Wiggler

Pretty much as easy as tying a San Juan Worm. Only difference is instead of one worm tied down in 3 spot you have 3 worms tied down in the middle once each to create 6 worms. I'm thinking this may...

Maggot Wiggler

Hey guys,

Pretty new to fly fishing, but I've been trout fishing for a long time. Got to thinking, I have always had my best fishing days when putting 4-6 maggots on a hook. So I searched to...

Did you order direct from Abel? Did they give you a choice of color or did they just ask you if they could send you Platinum?

That very well could be S&S. I actually just shot Abel an email asking. Not that it matters, but was curious.

Re: 9ft or 10ft

Generally speaking if you are going to be casting for bones from a boat you'd want to go with a 9ft rod. Not sure what advantage a 10ft would give you in this application.

Re: Abel Super 5N or 4N?

So I went to my local shop and was lucky enough that he was slow so he put my line on each of the reels so I could see how the rod balanced with each reel with the line on it. No comparison, the 4N...
