Im a newer guy too. I recommend either the Reddington ct 5wt or the StCroix. Ive got the St Croix. ..I love it. Buy any reel and a good wf line, lotsa midges and wooly boogers and your set.

My first trip was a success. Fished Lower Illinois near Gore Ok. Caught 18+ stocker rainbows. Missed what seemed like 100. Started fishing about 9am, quit about 530pm.

I can now cast arount 30' semi accurately and consistently. I do hear an occasional "crack"...
