It's getting that time right now. Usually the weekend before and the one after the 1st of October sees the most fishermen (I say that with tongue in check) along the banks of the Big Manistee just...

Re: Really cleaning out the closet

Not really, my next smallest reel is a Ross Canyon 2 for my 5wt and it's really too big for the GLoomis 3wt if I ever fished it.

I did find an extra silver Mirado Evolution spool that I would add...

Re: Polorized glasses.Yes or NO?

I wear progressive lens glasses and a simple $14 pair of clip-ons from Walmart works great for peering at fish in the river - and I can still see to tie knots . . .

Re: Anyone ever deal with newtyer1

Actually newtyer1 did manage screw me after all - because of him, the administrators move the post count up to 100 in order to post in the classifieds.

Re: Anyone ever deal with newtyer1

Well I did receive a PM from newtyer1 this morning saying he'd have to pass on buying the Orvis rod and reel because his wife just gave him a surprise vacation - he's leaving tomorrow. Evidently he's...

Anyone ever deal with newtyer1

I had a rod and reel listed in the classifieds that he made an offer on which was accepted but there's been no response back, he has no posts, looks like he deals with private messages only, and his...

Re: Orvis T3 905-4 Tip Flex & Orvis CFO III Disc

Re: Dumb question

That's a new one to me - might be part of my problem. I should have indicated I'm trying to cast a new Sage Xi3 10wt I just built - I can cast my little GLoomis 3wt with ease. I would think there...

Dumb question

When casting and when the line starts to straighten out as it nears the water - what is the reason that the front 6'-8' goes limp and doesn't straighten out (besides poor casting technique)? Is the...

Re: Thoughts on a Sage 4210 reel

I just looked up the Nautilus FXW and the reel and spools aren't any cheaper than the Sage 4210 plus they only go up to 7/8 weight - I wanted 9/10wt.

Re: Thoughts on a Sage 4210 reel

Based on no responses I assume no one here has one - evidently it's not a sought after reel.

Any thoughts on a Sage 4210 reel?

I just finished building a Sage 10wt Xi3 and I was thinking of pairing it with a Sage 4210 reel. The reel looks nice and is rather lightweight - just wondering how the startup inertia is and whether...

Thoughts on a Sage 4210 reel

I'm about 2/3 of the way thru building a Sage Xi3 10wt. The Salmon reel I have (that matched the rod I just sold) is a hefty 10 1/2 ounces "bare". I was thinking of selling the reel and spool and...

Anyone have a Sage Xi3 that can help me?

My first New Year's resolution was to treat myself to a Sage Xi3 9' 10wt blank - just because. I know the blank color is Electric blue and the wraps are Gudebrod Cobalt Blue (0050) and Royal Blue...

Re: Any 10wt suggestions for a poor caster?

Well I sort of went in a different direction than I was anticipating. As stated I have more into the (3) 10wt fly lines than the Colton 10wt rod so I wound up getting a good deal on a Sage Xi3 10wt...

Re: Any 10wt suggestions for a poor caster?

Well, I bought a Sage Xi3 9' 10wt blank on ebay last night - I'll take casting lessons this summer if needed.

Re: Any 10wt suggestions for a poor caster?

That was MY post on rod building.org a year ago! I've got as much in my 3 different 10wt lines than I do in the Colton 10wt. I would think if the line properly loads the rod, even a hillbilly like me...

Re: Any 10wt suggestions for a poor caster?

It was a Colton Tradewinds 10wt, I was casting a 10wt floating line, and two different Rio's - and Outbound short and a ghost sink tip. It didn't seem like even these heavier heads were loading the...

Any 10wt suggestions for a poor caster?

I spent all summer trying to cast a highly regarded 10wt as suggested on the StripersOnline forum but my casting is too poor to move that amount of line on a fast action rod. I could have done as...
