Depends on what your fishing for and rod balance. If you're going after something that will take you into your backing then be careful about down sizing the reel. However, if that' not the case then...

A boat like that opens up a lot of recreational opportunities. I would be gone each weekend floating and camping. Looks like it's time for some new fly rods to round out the mansomeness.

I've used tinsel on wooly buggers however, I found it to be a bit too wide compared to using wire. But the good thing about wooly buggers is you can tie them anyway you want with materials on-hand...

I never tie for speed however, the Griffith's Gnat is likely the easiest dry fly to tie in under two minutes and it's lethal. The quickest fly I tie is a black lead based nymph.

Definitely tie them on. Most casts I made were out in front of the fish letting it sink to the bottom in the grass. Never got one snag. I was using #8 Crazy Charlies.
