Re: Move on or change up?

I would say that the way a person fishes a stretch of river can tell you a lot about their personality; most particularly patience, speed of movement, frustration outburst factor, silence vrs chatter...

Re: Observations and questions

Re: Observations and questions

I'm not sure what your trouble is without seeing but many beginners make the mistake of not stripping in enough slack line just prior to commencing the cast. Keeping the rod tip lower to the water...

Re: Leeches

Re: This Forum We Call "Home..."

Most fly fishermen I know care about clean water and a clean environment, care about safely handling fish, care about etiquette, care about respect, and love to laugh. They speak my language. :D

Re: Leeches

I wet wade too. Never had a leech attach yet but I'm not in leech invested waters either. I suspect like others have said the infection prolly came after the leech was detached from bacteria in the...

Re: Doing a term paper on fly rods and the natural resources used in them

I am a little disappointed that Fly Rod companies allow many of their rods to have pretty huge eco-foot prints when it comes to finishing and fitting graphite blanks. The way shipping and...

Re: Broke in the new 3wt

Nice stuff there. I have a 6 ft 3 wt that has been getting a lot of action this year in the smaller streams with heavy cover. I love the thing. It can land fish bigger than most would think....

Re: What is a good beginner fly tying kit?

The best kit is the one you put together yourself.
Start with a good vice, then scissors, bobbins, hackle pliers, whip finisher.
Fine and medium threads, wire tinsel, fine ribbon tinsel. Polar...

Re: Airlines and fly rods

I don't have a lot of experience traveling with rods, but will say that 4 piece and up rods have really made it a cinch to travel with. If you have any concerns just pack the rods in their tubes in...

Re: Soft Tip - Crisp Tip

Generally speaking i like a stiffer tip. I think it depends on the waters you are fishing. I need a short stiff rod for the area I fish as there are many hazards, but I like the power when things...

Re: Tying with the Divine Proportion in Mind
