Found mine. flytie09 is exactly right. Be certain that the screwdriver you use to move the line guide fits precisely. And yes use a wooden "tool" to remove the spring. I suggest doing all...

It appears that Rubbermaid realizes what a fine brand they have with Hardy and they are doing something good and proper. Would hate for Hardy to fade into oblivion like JW Young and British...

I love the sound of fly reels, but when I fish I remove my hearing aids and am thereby deaf. Sometimes I hold a reel close to my ear just to hear, as best I can, that sweet sound.

Ihave a 5 line on a 1492, but that is for a short rod. Thinking a 1494/1594 for a longer rod.

Gatti been in the business for awhile and they have made some nice rigs. I agree that flipping the washer (?) at the base of the spindle is the thing to try.

An Okuma SLV will serve you very well. Many big fish people use them on their spendy fly rods. Have a look at them if you can. Recommended.

A very skilled fly fisher told me that he uses the strongest/biggest tippet that will fit thru the hook eye. He catches more fish that I ever have or will.
