Re: 8' 6" 4 wt. Question

The 486 Sage One should not be compared as being similar to any other Sage One models. I have found it to be a stand alone in terms of feel and performance. Those of you who are skeptics should...

Re: 8' 6" 4 wt. Question

I feel like i have been on a quest for the last 3-4 years to find the ideal 8'-6" 4wt rod. Like S&S, my absolute winner hands down is the Sage One in this size. For me, it is the perfect rod and...

Re: Hatch Reels Drag Setting

The locking up definitely happened and will happen on the early versions (the monsoons and the early finatics)....in my opinion it's worth giving Hatch a call to get the drags replaced with a newer...

Re: Hatch Reels Drag Setting

That locking up problem existed on the earlier Hatch's and they acknowledged it to customers that had the issue. It has since been corrected for the past couple of years with a revised design and...

Re: Scott Radian 6wt - Fighting butt or no?

I went with the butt on my Radian 9' 6wt. I wanted it primarily as a streamer rod and thought the rod felt better balanced with the FB.

Re: Sage One 4wt sweet spot?

The 486 is the sweetest of the 4wts in the One for sure. Check out the thread comparing this model to Radian 854.

Re: Radian, what line works best for you ???

Rio Gold is the best casting and most versatile for the Radian.

On my 906 Radian, I do use Perception but only to throw streamers.

Re: One vs Radian 8'-6" 4wt.

It is true that the Sage One has a little better feel in the 8'-6" 4wt but definitely not in the 9'-0" 4wt. The 9 footers in the Radian and One 4wts are very similar in comparison to 9' 5 weights.

Re: What is Scientific Anglers doing with their fly lines?

Yes, I was able to pick up some SA Mastery Trout Textured lines at 50% off. I love these lines for my Scott G2's. I got mine through Stillwater. They were on sale and had a deal that extended the...

Re: One vs Radian 8'-6" 4wt.

I think our conversation and this information was geared more towards people who have already cast either the Radian or the One in the 8'-6" 4 wt but didn't have a chance to cast them side by side. ...

Re: One vs Radian 8'-6" 4wt.

The 8'-6" 4wt One is definitely a different animal in the typically stiff Sage One series. The 486 is much softer and a super sweet caster with plenty of feel and light tippet protection. In my...

One vs Radian 8'-6" 4wt.

A few of us have discussed the merits of both the Scott Radian and Sage One. These are both truly fantastic rods and the 8'-6" 4wt is definitely a staple in most people's quivers here in the...

Re: Scott G, G-2, G-3 thread...

I absolutely love my Radian 905 and 906FB. I don't know that the 4 is entirely different but rather it's what I use the 4 for that is the real difference. The Radian shines when distance and...

Re: Scott G, G-2, G-3 thread...

I have to admit that I agree with George on this. I love the 486 and the 690 in the One but never warmed up to the 905. As much as I like my Radian 8'-6" 4wt, I do admit that sometimes I regret not...

Re: Scott G, G-2, G-3 thread...

I have to admit, the One 486 was fantastic and noticeably different from the 9 footers. For some reason Sage softened the tip up on this model and it is really a sweet stick. However, our opinions...

Re: Scott G, G-2, G-3 thread...

I agree with the comments that Scott had 2 very complimentary fresh water rods series with the G2 and Radian. I have always been a fan of the Scott rod aesthetics but have also felt very comfortable...

As a consumer, your insight and perceptions as a dealer are spot on. I have moved away from Sage for all of the reasons you have stated. Over the last 3 years, I have become a devout Scott fan. ...

Re: Anyone thinking about getting the Sage MOD rod?

I cast a G2 884/4 this weekend and it seems to be a perfect compliment to my 854 Radian.

Sage seems to be all over the place these days throwing out quite a few models. I do think the fit and...
