Re: Turkey Biots

Hi Walter,

I'm looking forward to seeing your flies with the turkey biots. Since you have some experience with goose biots you already know some of what you're getting into with them. When I use...

Re: Thinking of Trying the Cool Aid.....

My venture into 2 handed rods started much like what you're inquiring about. I'm still learning and Fred has probably already forgot more than I know at this point or may ever know :) I wanted to...

Re: Are expensive sunglasses worth the cost?

I've had plenty of cheap glasses in my day and some of them are better than others. Whether they're worth the cost to YOU is a decision YOU need to make. Just like the Abel Nipper thread, expensive...

Get a Plano box and drop them in there. I have been keeping excess flies in them for a couple of seasons now and simply can't find anything better. When I need to refill boxes, I just pull them...

Re: reel for a switch rod

These guys have given solid advise on the reel capacity and a match for a switch rod. I don't know that I have a whole lot to add there that would be different.

As for your choices on lines...

Re: Leeches

I've wet waded before and just don't like it. Leeches for the most part are disgusting, but the fish love em and I'm sure to always have some in my fly box:)

Re: First morning in Michigan.

One thing about chasing big fish like Salmon and Steelhead--big fish draw big crowds. From what I've heard and read, the runs are a little late this year. Fishing for salmon in Michigan is the...

Re: Tacky Fly Box

I didn't test it with dries, but I'd have to imagine that anything from a #14 and smaller will be just fine but this also depends on the fly and the size of the hackles. A quick look at the website...

Re: Tacky Fly Box

I looked at them last weekend at the fly shop. When you put a fly in there it holds well and when you take it out, there's no sign there was a fly in the box. I also tested the box with some salmon...

Re: Airflo Ridge Supple Technical Fly Line WF5F Grey/Peach - Sale Price: $48.95, Reta

I don't have this particular line, in WF but have it in DT on a 3wt WT. That rod is slow-medium and it's a really nice match. I am fishing the Supple Tactical in WF on a medium fast rod and it too...

I fish during the winter months with fingerless wool and fleece gloves. I carry 2 pair, one of each, with me at all times in case the first pair gets wet. Wool will provide insulation when wet but...
