Re: Scott Radian line. recommendation?

Shortly after this thread started, I have been fishing the Rio Gold In Touch version on my Radian 905 and have become very happy with it.

Todd,

Thanks for letting me know that you confirmed this with Rio. I am glad to to hear that there are no variations other than the core. I have fished the intouch Rio Gold a few times in the...

I recently bought my son a Redington Classic trout 8'-6" 5wt from Cabela's for $75 and paired it up with a Lamson Konic II size 2 reel from Sierra Trading for $90. A great decent quality rod and...

Re: Inside the Fly Rod Blank

Yes, a great amount of insight here. To your point about overseas rods. I recently bought my first ever non US made fly rod. A Redington Classic Trout for my son who is just learning to fly fish. ...

Re: Lamson Speedster for life?

The One is a light rod. The 1.5 size may pair better with the 590. I recommend you try both sizes before you decide.

Re: InTouch Rio Gold?

No, my photos show the tapers of the Gold InTouch vesus the regular Gold. It IS NOT the Perception. So whoever says the taper is identical between the 2 versions of Gold is a bit mistaken, the...

http://www.theflyfishingforum.com/forums/fly-lines/358522-rio-gold-differences-intouch-vs-regular.html

This may help. I've been using it on my 5wt and 4wt. I honestly haven't noticed a huge...

Re: Want a new 4wt - hung up on length

You are losing about 3". Don't sweat it. The reason that rod was designed to the length it is may be that the action was too slow at 9'. Who knows but adjusting length in a rod design can be a way...

Re: Lamson Guru question

What's really the functional advantage to concave spools? Generally, most spools are concave on the portion of the spool section and that section is generally filled up by backing. So in effect your...

Re: Abel vs. Hatch Debate

For me, what decides whether I use the Hatch or Abel is the need to change spools. If so, I prefer the Hatch. Both the Super N's and the Finatic's look great to me. The Abel is a little more...

Re: Abel vs. Hatch Debate

I also have the Super 4n on my 9'-0 5wt Radian and really think the two pair up nicely. No one will go wrong with either the Abel or the Hatch reels. Each have their own positives and negatives but...

Re: Rio Gold Differences InTouch vs Regular

I would also like to know if the head weights are the same. Supposedly the 2 versions were exactly the same except for the core. I am not so sure that is the case.

Re: Abel Creek Discontinued?

I noticed that as well. I actually like the design of the Creeks better than the Trout. Oval porting and the option of a large arbor or mid made it very appealing.

Re: Lamson Guru question

To answer the couple questions you have.....the 1.5 can be a great reel for a 5wt rod. The drag on the Lamsons is very smooth and maintenance free. They are durable reels and we'll made. However the...

Rio Gold Differences InTouch vs Regular

So I was examining the boxes from the new Rio Gold InTouch version against the regular stretch core version. What I noticed in the head is slightly shorter on the InTouch version. Notice that Rio's...

Re: Sage Xi3 - Clearance Price $313 - $349

From what I see they do not come with the full warranty. That's definitely worth $100 to me.

Re: New 4 wt. reel considerations ?

My Hatch 5 Plus Finatic weighed an actual 6.2 oz before I spooled it up. The Sage One 691 is 3oz on the money and the One w/o the butt is 2 7/8 oz. The Hatch 5 plus Finatic is absolutely a perfect...

Re: New 4 wt. reel considerations ?

A Hatch 5 plus would be perfect on that 6wt Method. That is what I have on my Sage One 6wt. I thinks it's the perfect reel for that rod.

Re: New 4 wt. reel considerations ?

The lone can "barrel" or build up in one spot causing a jam up. The narrower spools generally don't have this issue. I've actually found this problem when using a Litespeed. One way to avoid it is...

Unfortunately the Konic's are not US Made.....look carefully at the box. It says "Designed and engineered in the USA" I confirmed with Lamson they are made "overseas" which I assume is China or...

Re: Sage TXL-F 4wt

Re: Sage TXL-F 4wt

I just had my fly shop order a TXL-F 7'-10" 4 weight. Sage is finishing a batch this week and is shipping one out for me next week. Can't wait to fish this fall with it.
