Re: Any Northern NV folk?

I'm in cold springs, 20 miles north of Reno, I do a lot of fishing at Davis and Frenchman's and have fished antelope, haven't gone much further north than that though I have been talking to a...

Re: So, what do we have here?

That's what I do Ard, I was never very good at figuring out what type of bug it really was, especially not by the Latin name. I would just open my fly box and see what I had that looked close to...

Re: where the big trout live

Ranger, sorry, I guess I should mentioned rainbows as the target.

A big fish around here, in the lake I will be fishing can go over 20. My buddies and I routinely pull fish between 12 and 16...

Re: where the big trout live

Looks like everyone is keeping their stillwater big fish tips to themselves huh?

OK, well, back in the day, bigfly and I would be discussing big flies for big fish, and fish em deep (at least an...

where the big trout live

Hi all,

without jinxing myself (hopefully), I do pretty well in the local lakes and have even taken a few large fish for the lakes I fish, I generally enjoy the camaraderie of fishing with friends...

Re: So, Why Am I Not Fishing?

Spent yesterday in a float tube on the lake, complaining about the wind, seems like the last two years if you are not willing to fish in wind you dont fish lately. I am sitting here this morning...

Re: Bless me Father, for I have sinned

The gods do not deduct from man's allotted span the hours spent in fishing.

while I personally believe god gives us extra credit for time spent fly fishing, the above quote does not specify, So,...

Re: Where are all the fish

I personally like the old stuff better. You can still hunt with a bow and arrow, you can still fish with a fiberglass fly rod, and I'm just about positive that the fish have not evolved so much in...

Re: nymphing line, what to use.

for stillwater, I use a intermediate sinking line with a 7 to 9 foot leader/tippet, for rivers, I use a WFF and about 5 to 7 feet of 4lb flouro for the leader/tippet - this works for me.
