Re: Strike Indicators .... the good the bad and the ugly !

I'm not surprised at all, this forum seems to have a more mature approach towards it's discussions, that is less mocking and more discussion.

Re: Chatham Seals

Was just doing a little reading on that, sounds as though there may be no easy solution that makes all parties happy.
I imagine that at some point there should be some herd culling but that will...

Re: Furled leaders: Are they right for me?

That's why I like using the fluorocarbon, I don't think it has much memory at all, very easy to work with.

I don't make a new one every time out but I do sit on a rock and adjust them stream...

Re: Panfish Fly Thread 2015

Jim please tell me that in a few short weeks your fly box's will be discombobulated and you wont be able to know where what is like any of mine will be.

Beautifully displayed and organized, I...

Re: Strike Indicators .... the good the bad and the ugly !

My eyes and the sense of touch.

Do I lose a fish here or there due to not getting tipped off from an indicator? probably but I enjoy having nothing but the fly on my line.

Instead of...

Re: Furled leaders: Are they right for me?

I'm going to agree with Rip Tide here with the caveat that I have never fished with furled leaders though.

I just don't have the need to change from something that has worked for me my whole life....

Re: Flash sale 40% off everything this weekend only

Heck, even if you tie it's worth a look.

uintahflyshop you sure are making it difficult for us tiers to justify spending all our money on feathers, If I didn't tie for the sheer enjoyment I would...

Re: I am a happy camper.

I really like how this book gives you multiple methods to tie in the same thing., it's also very well illustrated.
Once you figure the format in which it is laid out that large book with an overload...

Re: Have you ever put a worm on your fly ?

Right, there's the other thing, Even if I wanted to, it's illegal to use live bait in most places I go fishing. So No, no worms for me.

Re: Preferred method for trout

I'm using "fly" as a generic term to describe what we tie to our fly lines, usually made of but not limited to feathers and hair, all of which a bugger would and could be made of.
like I said I just...

Re: Preferred method for trout

I have to ask, how is a wooly bugger not a fly, not going to try and convince you otherwise I'm just curious as to the rationale of your statement, maybe I'm the one looking at it wrong.
But as far...

Re: Have you ever put a worm on your fly ?

Never crossed my mind to do something like that, if I want to live bait fished I would use a spin cast setup not fly. How would the worm even stay on the hook from the cast.

Re: Preferred method for trout

I honestly never seen nor heard of "spin bubble" fly fishing so I had to google it.
The only thing I see, at least in the video I watched, that was remotely related to fly fishing was the fly at the...

Re: What have you been tying today?

Looks good to me but I don't swim and eat nymphs.
it's very flashy, if you're looking to name it "Liberace" might be fitting.

Just to be clear, I'm kidding...It's a great looking fly.

I have the vise as do many on here, It's a great vise, built like a tank, it has all the bells and whistles you'll probably never need another vise.

As far as the standard jaws are concerned, I...
