Re: Tie Stream side?

Not on day trips. But when I am on the road for a few days of fishing, I will put together a small tying kit that I put in a laptop computer carrying case and bring with me. Joni, that's a great idea...

No ouananiche yet!

Went fishing at my usual haunt a few days ago. I didn't catch a landlock yet contrary to last year at this time. Maybe they haven't started the spawning run yet. Although the brookies seem larger...

Re: Do U use protection?

At least SPF 45, a brimmed hat and UV protection sunglasses. I got used to that stuff on the job. And plenty of bug juice; those skitos have been active all summer.:(

Home made Trail mix mixed with nuts, dried berries like cranberries, blueberries, etc. Plenty of carbs and protein, it keeps you going, especially during hard hikes in hot weather. I top that off...

Re: International trout fly swap Nymph/Dry

Hi everyone, mine should be in the mail by next Friday. I almost finished my dozen Usuals With A Twist. I can't wait to see everyone's ties. From what I have seen so far, people here have...

Re: Pike streamers

How do they hold up to the fishes teeth? I've stuck to rabbit strips for my pike streamers for a while. Thanks for the photos, they're giving me ideas for my own streamers!

Re: What are your favorite brook trout flies?

Brook trout are the only salmonid I fish for. Brown and 'bows are rather rare in my neck of the woods. Over the years, I have slimmed down my selection of flies:

Re: Best way to dry and store waders

I also just hang them with the suspenders in my tying room. I don't think you need to hang breathable waders upside down. I remember in the old rubber and canvas wader days you had to hang them that...

Re: Starter Setup

Speaking from experience, I also suggest that you get a basic tying tool selection with a basic vise, something like a Thompson A vise. Then, according to the species and type of waters you fish,...

Re: Alberta

I hope things will turn around in your area. Putting more angling pressure on a already stressed fisherie can have a long term impact. I plan to take a trip out west someday to fish a little and...

I remember a while ago using hair coloring to dye a cape. It was a pale cream and turned out a very nice shade of dun. Can't remember what colour I used though.

Re: Rod value inquiry.......

I would think that the Fenwick which is fiberglass (according to the model number) would be worth around 100$ with the original sock and tube. If you check on ebay, they pop up from time to time. You...

Took my son fishing for pike at a small lake I know. He caught a "hammer handle" with his spinning outfit. Anyway, the fish started thrashing while I was trying to unhook it and this was the result....
