Re: Went to the green side today.

Congrats on the BIIIX. What a beautiful rod it is. I picked up the 9' version on closeout some weeks back, before the new updated model. I just put Airflo Super-Dri elite on my reel and thinking...

Which rod to take?

Going to take some customers on a trip next week to the S Holston in TN. Current plan is a float/wade depending on water flow/release. Hoping for a Sulphur hatch. Did some casting this evening...

Re: Dai riki hooks?

Thanks so much.

I'll look at the Allen brand. Having never tied before, I just couldn't make up my mind, as I tend to do often. I'm one of those "overthinkers".

As you can probably tell from...

Dai riki hooks?

Just getting into fly tying. Pretty much decided on everything but the hook. Dai Riki seems to be popular but was wondering about the quality compared to the Tiemco or Daiichi. Did a search for...

Re: Best knot, tippet to fly

Clinch. Fast and easy, especially when using your forceps as a tying tool. Uses up very little tippet.

Re: New reel for my BIIIX 9' 5wt?

Looking forward to your eval. Been wanting a Nautilus mainly because I just don't have one. Probably enough justification in itself.

New reel for my BIIIX 9' 5wt?

I'm giving my Tibor Tail Water CL and 5 wt Sage Flight to my son. I have a Galvan Spoke S4 for my Winston GVX 4wt that I thought about buying an extra spool to use on the BIIIX 5wt. Should I be OK...

South Holston River Fly Shop has one left at closeout price, $300, if anyone is interested. Hoping someone buys it before I do.

Re: Sage DS-2 Fly Rods

I have a DS2 9' 8wt, never used. Shame. I need to get it out. First fly rod I ever bought with intentions of taking it to the coast for reds. Put a Lamson Velocity 3.5 with Rio clouser and never...

Airflo love?

Keep in mind, this comes from a novice but I don't see as much chatter on Airflo lines as Rio, SA, etc. Thinking seriously of trying the Super-Dri Elite so did a search and found much fewer...

Re: Simms Headwaters or Fishpond Summit Sling?

Appreciate the opinions. Decided on the Simms. Knowing me, I'll also have the Fishpond sometime soon.

Re: FWX or Galvan Torque?

Any suggestions for my line to use with the BIIIx? Have Rio Gold on a Sage but wondering if there might be a better choice for the Winston. Thinking maybe something from the Rio InTouch line.

Re: FWX or Galvan Torque?

Thanks

Was wondering how the green T5 would look. Think I'll order it. Good place to buy? Bought the Spoke at Cabelas but they no longer carry Galvan.

Just picked up a 9' 5wt BIIIx on closeout. Was thinking of just buying another spool for my Galvan S4 Spoke but decided to just pick up another reel. Can't have too many. Thought I heard there was a...

Simms Headwaters or Fishpond Summit Sling?

I looked at the Simms at Cabelas and sorta liked it. Have only seen pics of the Summit but find it more appealing on looks alone. Can anyone help me make up my mind?

Re: Why Winston BIIIX on sale?

Couldn't resist. Got the last 9' 5wt at Cabelas in SC for $399. Had one last closeout Biiix left, a 4wt 9'. Almost walked away with that one too.
