I just purchased a Van Staal 7/8 from eBay for under $300. A substantial discount from "list." In reviewing various forums, there seems to be mixed comments regarding customer service, etc.

Re: Best 5 or 6 wt freshwater reel under $300.00

I just picked up a new Hatch Typhoon 5 on ebay for $295. I think you can also get a Lamsom Litespeed for under $300. Both would be great reels.

Re: Which no. 3 reel?

Great suggestion on trying a click - I have never used one. About time I tried! Looking over click reels any thoughts on the Hardy Ultralite CC2000?
