Re: Glass Fly Rod

You will love that Steffen. I have one in 7'9" 4/5. It is a great all around trout rod for streams. It reminds me a lot of my Orvis Far and Fine, only it has a little more...

Winston biiix 5 piece ?

I really like my winston biiix rods. I really like the action and how it feels while casting. My question is, have any of you guys cast the regular 4 piece and the same 5 piece version? Are the...

Re: New Rod Advice

I would buy a 6 wt. There has to be other fishing in southern California beside small trout streams. With a 6 you could fish big lakes, do some warm water bass fishing and even some light salt water....

Re: Rio Gold question ???

Gold is my favorite line. You get a weight forward line that mends almost as well as a double taper. Also, like Sweet and Salt says, you can put a lot of line in the air. Works really well for...

Re: eagle claw trailmaster trp600 line ?

All the ones I have seen including mine are rated for a 7 we fly line. I think it casts like a glass rod is supposed to with a 7 wt. It's actually a pretty good rod. I took it on many backpack ...

Re: A Bunch of Rods Question

Sounds to me like you have it covered. The only other suggestion is if you get heavily into Pacific salmon, you might need a 9 or 10 weight or a spey rod. King or Chinook salmon can get real big and...

Re: all around trout rod

It would be a sin to part with the IM6 5wt. I agree with Cleteus above. keep the IM6 and the biix 6wt and you have it covered.

Re: ? on a bass rig...

I usually use either a 6 or 8 wt for most of my Bass fishing. I can usually use the 6 wt most of the time with poppers up to size 4-2 or smaller clousers. The big meat gets thrown with the 8 weight.

Re: Parking lot casting, etc. Stream Contamination

Any fly shop the sells the parking lot test lines with an outfit should be put out of business. It doesn't take too many asphalt casts to ruin a fly line.

Re: Who has ORVIS Helios2 6wt Tip Flex?? feedback?

I've been fishing my H2 6 weight for about a year now. I love it. It is very powerful and can throw some pretty large bass bugs and streamers. It has a lot of feel, but I do admit, I like it a...

Re: 3wt or 4wt short rod

In the situations you describe, I like a 7' 4 weight. I have a Orvis Superfine 4 piece that I use for these situations. I also like the idea of vintage glass. A 71/2' Fenwick 5 wt would work well...

802, I have had a March Brown Hidden Waters 7 piece 6 weight for quite a few years now. It is a very decent rod. Like the post above said, it is not my favorite rod, but it goes with me on lots of...

Re: Newbie needs help with first set up

If they passed a law tomorrow and said you could only have one rod, I would choose a 6 weight. For my freshwater fishing, a six weight can do almost anything. Sure, I will be over gunned a bit in a...

Re: Fly fishing vacation-Need help

I am a big fan of the Yellowstone area. Every fly fisherman needs to go there at least once in his/her life.
