Re: Bozeman area members?

I've only been here about a year and a half but fire away. I grilled a lot of people before we made the move.

Re: Running line by yo feet

That video was a game changer for me. I just got off the river after trying it and it makes a world of difference. Much appreciated link.

Re: Fishing Field Notes

I wouldn't do it out of respect for the few others that have found the locations on their own. Since very few fish it this means they probably haven't told others. If I were them I would be severely...

Re: the F word

Why not teach math on a slide rule? I'm sure there are some benefits in brain development or motor skills when learning cursive. However, when the lights go out I would prefer our youth have the...

Re: Maine

Thats a beautiful area and should be a great trip. You don't necessarily need a 7 or 8wt though. I used to fish them a lot on a 5 or 6wt. We used to use a pattern called the Golden...

Re: Tarpon in mid Mar 2015 : Keys or Everglades?

Tarpon are there in March but obviously not in the numbers as during the migration. I have a buddy that is a guide out of Marathon and he is very dialed in. I've seen Tarpon every time I've done a...

Re: Vacation booked now HELP WITH A ROD

Which lodge are you going to? El Pescador carries high end rods and reels so unless your going to have an extended use for it I would borrow the 10wt from them. Just make sure the lodge does have...

Re: Flyfishng around Flagstaff

It's about a 3hr drive from Flagstaff but the White Mountains and the Greer area have some decent fishing options. Nothing like the Juan but if your in the mood for small streams or reservoirs that...

Re: Ebola in Northern Maine?

As someone who grew up in Maine and spent the majority of my life there I think I can fairly say the biggest dangers are drunk drivers and Moose.

Ebola....not so much.

Re: Bozaman & Ennis

Montana Ale Works on main street in Bozeman. It's always busy but you can usually find a seat in the bar area. Lots of local beer and everything on the menu is pretty good.

Re: Week long float fly fishing

Thanks Ard. I also have a 13' raft that I love for two/three man floats but it needs a trailer and I can't portage it solo. The Flycraft excels in that area. It's also really quiet and...

Re: Week long float fly fishing

I'll chime in as I have a Flycraft as well as a larger raft. You won't need a trailer as it can easily be secured to the roof of a truck or even a car. Lot of people strap them down on there...

Re: Reel for 5wt Winston

Not on your list and a bit more money but have you looked at the Bozeman Reels? I just put a 3 to 5 on my 5wt and it's awesome. Rod made in Twin Bridges and reel made in Bozeman. Pretty good combo....

Re: Reel for Sage 7wt (without totally breaking the bank)

Another vote for Allen. I have an older trout II when it was made in 5-7 or I believe it was the trout II. Either way I paired it with a 7wt Sage One and use it primarily as a streamer rod with a...

Re: new hamshire scoop

I'm pretty much with Cotter on this one as I lived there for about 6 years and fished it extensively. If your in Concord drive North on 93 to the Lincoln or Woodstock area and give the Pemigawasset...

Rick,

My brother is currently stationed in Australia via a military exchange with the Air Force. He is planning on making a trip to Tasmania in the near future to fly fish for trout. Would you...

Yeah but after the pigs you put me on your fish karma is through the roof. It's just a matter of time till the Stone gives up a 30 incher.

Re: Scottsdale in February

I've fished the Salt that time of year. It's stocked for trout but you would have to look up the schedule. I've actually caught pretty decent bass in there as well and seen a lot of carp.

Re: Montana State University

You scored an epic exchange....congrats.

I'm with Dhayden and use a 4wt often. That or a 7wt for chucking streamers which I find myself doing the majority of the time now. Lots of guys use 8wts...

Re: Something to Think About

The financing from fly fishing brands doesn't bother me because I would prefer that then see some up and coming film makers eat up their life savings to finance a project that most likely won't earn...

Re: Something to Think About

I'm going to go ahead and disagree with this respectfully. I don't really see how one could look cynically at this project. This is the extended trailer to a yet to be finished film. I've had a...

Re: Tom Morgan selling some acreages….I wish!

I love that drive and do it often. Really pretty country…..but that seems like an awful lot for 10 acres. That being said I'm sure someone will pay it. I'd probably list it for more.
