Re: Indoor practice

I wouldn't worry about the line so much- condiotuion it well and keep it clean and you should be good.

One thing that would probably help a lot is to scatter some frisbees or the like around at...

Re: Fly Pattern Progression.

That's the cool thing about Shaw's book - good solid technique without the distractions of tying a fish-able or frame-able fly. You learn to tie down all your tags, etc correctly yielding in a...

Re: Free: The Fly Patterns of Bob Clouser

Thanks much! I THINK I got it. Still haven't found the d/l-ed file on the 'puter, but I can read it.

Any easy way to search for other books in my price range (i.e. free)?

Re: Owned by the invaders

Sort of like the right to free speech, which does not automagically get you a captive audience.

Re: Owned by the invaders

[poke] [poke] [poke]

I am usually pretty calm most of the time; it's the passive aggressive behavior and repetitive aggravations I don't do so well with. [poke]

Re: Owned by the invaders

Things I have done which I am NOT proud of.

1) Walked away quietly far too many times.
2) Waded over, found the line and cut it.
3) Attempted to pluck a guy's hat off once with a #4 muddler. I...

Re: Good Sources for Small Jig Heads ?

You're welcome.

Need a link to nail polish?

(Helps if you spray the strait lead heads with self etching primer before painting.)

Re: Fly Pattern Progression.

Given what you can find on the web for video and thing like ant video downloader... books are sort of obsolete. I used to suggest the book I learned on (Fly-Tying: Helen Shaw: 9780941130547:...

Re: 2013 Winter Fly Swap #2

Bear, TheBoz, Very much appreciate the offers, but I can live with being a bit slow on the trigger here. I can catch the next one. Have a project I am working on anyhow.

I would agree with your observation that your nymph is a bit over dubbed. Looks like you the gape a bit which is going to make hook sets a bit...

Re: Someone order muskrat?

SSSSSHHHHHH!!!! that fly name should be allowed to slip into antiquity quietly. The few people who know about it means the less the trout around here will see it, which is a good thing for me.

Re: Non-glossy thread epoxy

Old school = bad?

Like the Roman-tech wax ring that seals my toilet to the drain pipe? That's +2k old school! That must make it purely evil.

Re: What type of sunfish is this?

Latinus Cantpronouncitus. With the way the red spot is glowing, I'd say it is a purdee fish.

Re: Ice Fishing

The hardest part of ice fishing is cutting that dame hole. It takes a long time to chop a 35' long 1' wide hole in the ice. Even with that I feel like I am casting short.

(Don't laugh... I...
