Thumbs up Re: Cabelas/Galvan?

I own several Galvans. A Standard, couple of Rush's and Torques. All have very smooth drags, well machined and made with TLC by the Galvan family. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them or purchase...

Re: Blending dubbing

I have a coffee grinder that I've used for blending dubbing and it's collecting dust. I don't use it for several reasons. It can chop dubbing up too much and make it too fine and it gets caught...

Re: Wiggled Four 6wts today, Bought one

Outside of the great deal you got on the new stick, it's a super choice, especially as a streamer rod but with the right line it's going to be pretty versatile for you. If you've got your eyes on a...

Re: What have you been tying today?

That's a great looking pile o flies there Brian, your friend is a lucky dude. I hope you've got stock for yourself to put the new stick through it's paces. Make sure you add a few Dirty Hippys to...

Re: Wiggled Four 6wts today, Bought one

Brian, that's an interesting perspective on those rods, thanks for the write up and sharing your thoughts on them. From the sounds of things, you did your homework before you went and did right by...

Re: Rod Love; the Fly Rod Picture Thread

Those are some serious rods there Ard. I like the looks of both and it's pretty hard to go wrong with a green blank but I think the burgundy looks elegant and different. You don't see a lot of...

Re: Line for 9' 6wt Nexus

You'll be casting one of them soon Brian, I'm sure of it. :) I certainly would like to look at them too, it sounds like a pretty interesting rod.

Re: Line for 9' 6wt Nexus

I think burk48237 has some experience with this rod, so I'm hoping he will see this and chime in with his thoughts.

Not to discount what the others are suggesting, but I might be inclined...

Re: Best reel for Winston WT 803 !!!

We are discussing the graphite WT and not a bamboo model that I'm unaware of, right?

Assuming we're talking graphite, Moucher's thoughts are pretty much in alignment with mine. I have a CFO 123...

Re: Thoughts on 3wt

Don't you love when you get a pre loved rod shipped to you, open it up and find it to be in near mint condition?:)

I can tell you that if you want a classic look to your WT, a Featherweight or CFO...

Re: A Life Saver

Several years ago, I was on a fishing excursion in the Allegheny National Forest on a week long trip and encountered heavy rains. Those heavy rains produced some swift moving water in some of the...

Re: Replacing some lines question

Airflo Super Dri Elite is true to line weight as I understand it. I've been very happy with it. If you go this route, try to find some of the Wiz Lube too. It's the best fly line dressing I've used.

I'm not going to help your bank account, but the Sage One 7116 is one sweet casting rod. Just sayin' :teef:

Re: Lake Erie Tribs

This is one of those fisheries that volatile. The weather there can change incredibly rapidly so I've always found it to be a trip that you just plan and go with it. The numbers of fish in the...

Re: Nymph fish with a switch rod?

Here are my observations:

On my 6wt, I have 2 lines. One is Rio Chucker and the Rio Switch. Chucker is what I use if I'm going to be fishing streamers + tips/polyleaders exclusively. Chucker is...

Re: Airflo switch streamer vs rio switch chucker

I'm not familiar with that rod, so hopefully somebody who's got it chimes in on their experiences.

A couple of suggestions to offer though, send an email or call Redington to see what they can...

Re: Thoughts on 3wt

I've got a 380-3 WT and can say that if you like a slow stroke and like a rod with full flex, you should enjoy casting it but I suspect a 7'6 would be slightly more crisp. I've got it lined with...

Re: Trout intruder where to buy

I use the cheap Plano boxes for tubes and intruder storage. The type that are used for storing lures. You can fit a lot of them in one of those boxes. Cliff has a box that's used for storing...

Re: Ultragreen Maxima

I wish I could answer you on your question Re: Stillwater setup, but I don't fish stillwater as my fishing is pretty much relegated to streams and rivers.

I agree with Ard's comment though,...

Re: Ultragreen Maxima

I use both Chameleon and Ultragreen to make leaders because I stocked up on some of it years ago and have access to it. I don't regret it, but I guess I don't know any different either. If I am not...

Re: Orvis CFO III by Hardy

Be patient, one will pop up but be prepared to pay for it. Hopefully you get lucky, but I find the vultures are often circling the minty ones.:)

That brookie in your 3rd and 4th photos is exceptionally beautiful. The fins on Driftless brookies is so white. You can just barely see the scarlet belly from the spawn too. Just beautiful. Looks...

Re: Orvis CFO III by Hardy

If one is looking for a CFO III screw back model, there is one for sale here on the forum in the classifieds. I've dealt with John fairly recently and he is top notch.

Re: Hackle for wooly buggers

I'm a fan of the bugger packs because of the variety in each pack. There are a ton of feathers in there too. It's kind of like a cape, a bit expensive upon the initial investment but worthwhile in...
