Re: Tenkara: Fishing stillwater and Setting the hook

So, you keep the rod up even in stillwater? I should sort if just stick the rod out and "dance" the fly on top of the water? I can sort of see that with a dry fly but what about a wet fly?

Tenkara: Fishing stillwater and Setting the hook

Hello,

I was given a gift card to Amazon at work and I ordered a Tenkara Rod Co rod called Sawtooth rod. I have always wanted to try this and now I can without it costing me any money.

I...

Re: Passed fishing 'Pard's' and our Dogs.

Fred!

I didn't know you suffered from that horrific disease. If I lived anywhere near you, I would be sure to bring you to breakfast or wherever you needed to go. Alas, I am 2,600 miles away.

Hey, Fred.

I wondered where you have been. The place is not the same without you. Is everything alright?

Re: A Life Saver

Yep! Been in a very similar situation but I was dumb and DID NOT have a staff. Lots of rain and even lots or rain that day. Stream was high to begin with when I initially crossed over. Way too...

Re: Correct Way to Pack a Rod in its Tube?

Under. HAS to be under. ESPECIALLY if one has kids (even if the "kid" is 20-something). Somebody said it correctly: you get better drag underneath.

How do I know? Because this was a huge...

Re: Anybody here use a float tube and cannot swim?

What is the brand name and style you use? I have noticed that there are some that will ensure you are floating face-up no matter what at pretty reasonable prices. (I'm sorry--I do not know the...

Re: Anybody here use a float tube and cannot swim?

Thanks! These are some good comments that I can use.

First, I plan on using a non-inflatable life vest. I totally agree that I may not think about pulling that string! Heck, I found a Type I...

Re: Anybody here use a float tube and cannot swim?

You are right. Snakes inside wader would not be a good thing and I see quite a few of those buggers where I fish. I also worry about turtles as there are snapping turtles all around, too.

Re: Anybody here use a float tube and cannot swim?

You are more or less saying what I am saying. I "can" swim but I need to be fairly close to shore. And even if I do find a way to fall out of a tube, that can still be used as a kick board.

I...

Re: Anybody here use a float tube and cannot swim?

haha. I can see that happening to me. I am not graceful at all.

But there is a boat launch in both these places and I think that will help entrance and exit to the lake. I think i can sit on my...

Re: Anybody here use a float tube and cannot swim?

Well, I knew I would be blasted with the "learn to swim" response and with good reason. The thing is, I have tried to learn how to swim six or seven times. I can "do" it but I am really pretty bad....

Anybody here use a float tube and cannot swim?

I have been kicking around using a float on the two lakes that are near me since there are only so many places you can fish from on shore. My only real problem is getting up the nerve because I...
