I've got a few young student anglers who always need some extra flies, so I usually tuck them into a separate plano box and let them pick from it.

It's not so much as the flies that don't work but...

I prefer softhackle to nymphs, more ways to fish them and Joni said it, they ungulate & pulsate with each strip of fly line....Hard to beat a fly that commands a...

Steelhead will be a slow game compared to what your use to with the saltwater, nymph, nymph, nymph....

Spring when the steelhead drop down back into the lake they are hungry and will take...

Same here in the North East, hooks are outrageously expensive....I've become more attached to SS rabbit and CDC since the hike in hackle....The usual is a killer all around dry fly that takes many...

I altered one each of the three above and had poor results...We were just dang lucky to meet someone with...

We've got a bit of snow already, and expecting another 15-24" tomarrow...Then again on Wed and maybe next weekend....

Me too....it's eerie when it snows and a defining silence falls over the environment your in except your casting.

Other thing is it's usually nice and warm when snowing, for winter temps that is.

Larry, I still can't believe what an incredibly lucky trip it was for my first time to the SR.....Most get skunked...

Joni, all fish were from the Salmon River, The browns average 8lb up to 20. ...

Chubs enjoy warm water, trout do not....During the colder time of year they co-hab, but when the water temp rise trout seek cooler water and chub live it up in the warmer water.

I've had this vise for three years and LOVE it. The jaws can handle small 30's or salt 8/0 flies.....

I do use the rotary for some...

Hiya Y'all,

It's been a while and I've kind been working hard to collect pennies for the rainy day economy that's in the forecast. So fishing was good this year even if work cut into it a bit.
