Re: I need more grip when wading,

Tell me about it, ia_Craig! When I installed the 1/4" screws and there was no bite at all I was immediately leery. I think a dab of gorilla glue would help a lot but being able to remove them is...

Re: I need more grip when wading,

I bought $30 worth of Simms screw in "alumibite" or whatever they are for my Simms boots. $30 gets you 10 lousy cleats. The Simms boots are supposedly designed for the cleats, they are shaped to fit...

Re: Any Black Friday Rod Sales????

For a $30 fly rod I would consider it lucky that there is even epoxy over shrink tubing!

Seriously, I can't even figure out how something can be manufactured like a graphite rod with guides, a...

Re: Any made in the US companies match Orvis' warranty??

I think you are off on this assessment. Not all graphite rods are the same simply because they are all graphite...same goes for fiberglass and bamboo, etc. Personally I don't care if someone wants to...

Re: a foody thread?

Thanks guys, I should have taken more pics during the process. The recipes vary a lot like any traditional, regional dish; think gumbos or Italian red sauce, there is no one way.

Casey, you should...

Re: a foody thread?

My wife has always said she would like mole (mol-ā, the mexican sauce, not the rodent) for her turkey and since we are staying put for the holiday having a small Thanksgiving, just the two of us and...

Re: Cabela's Wind River Outfit

I don't know much about any of the rods discussed here , but I do know that Reddington and Loop are well regarded companies and for inexpensive rods they are highly rated. Personally I would stay...

Re: LTB Short 5wt rod

There are quite a few rod builders here, most are hobbyists (I hate that word) including me but but a couple pros too. Check out the rod building section of this forum.

Re: Your name?

When I hastily created my account here it was to get an answer to a specific question, I had no idea I'd become a lifer.

Re: LTB Short 5wt rod

Have you considered a custom built rod? Might not be as many options in the under $150 range, but you could do it.

Re: Time for a Streamer Fly Swap, Who Wants In?????

It is up to Larry, but having hosted a handful of swaps in the past I will add that it can get confusing sorting the flies. The general idea of these swaps is that everyone ties 12 identical flies...

Re: What have you been tying today?

How do you wrap the CDC in? Collar style and trim the bottom flat? Knowing that you follow Hans I might guess you spin just the fibers in a split thread then wind them in. But are they tied in before...

Re: Time for a Streamer Fly Swap, Who Wants In?????

I'm going head down to the vise after my kid is in bed. I made a couple last week but had to get more hooks.

As William mentioned, don't forget to "toe tag" your flies, a little slip of paper...

Re: What have you been tying today?

Yeah I love the thin body and sparse tie, great general fly. I've been more and more attracted to patterns like this. I've always appreciated an "economical" pattern, i.e. fewer materials to greater...

Re: Rare feathers

I've seen packages of lower graded feathers at the Feather Emporium. He sorts out all the packs he sells himself. I've never bought any JC nails from him, but have had good luck with chicken necks...
