Re: Winter Fly Fishing MA

Re: Troubleshooting the cast...

The reason I say forget the 10/2 thing is it makes one think of a clock , clocks are round for the most part and will have you moving the rod tip in the same circular motion where the fulcrum will be...

Re: Big vs Small; new vs. old: heavy vs light

Very interesting data Jim. As they say " selecting a rod is a matter of give and take " . I just didn't realize the differences where so small. Would there be any chance you could do the same with a...

Re: Troubleshooting the cast...

Exactly , there are many " styles" of cast and you will probably melt them into one you can call your very own (This is what I have learned anyway) but you need to pick a path (program) to start with...

Re: Fran Betters. AuSable river legend.

I was lucky enough to spend some time with him back in the 80's when I stopped in the shop a few times. We chatted for quite a while and he showed me how to tie up some of his creations. It was a...

Re: Troubleshooting the cast...

Chances are you are either applying to much power and shocking the rod or you do not have constant tension with the line , either will result in tip bounce and secondary waves going down the line. A...

Re: Thomas & Thomas ESP

We may get a preview of some of the new line up at the coming shows. I know T&T will be at Somerset and Denver. I do not think the whole series will be shown until the ICAST show in the summer. I...

Re: Fishing and One's pride

if you can you gut them as soon as you can in the woods, not drag it out and put it on your car and drive around for half a day. Don't help that he shot it 5 or 6 times with a 12GA slug. Problem is ,...

Re: Fishing and One's pride

Back some time ago , I met this kid thru a mutual friend. He tells me how much of a great hunter he is , knows everything, monster bucks and all. Well, about a week or so later he shows up at one of...

Re: Rod help

I would opt for the used RPL over any TFO on any given day.....

150 bucks could buy you yesterdays legend or todays unproven 3 round draft pick and the RPL is far from a "has been"......nothing...

Re: TFO BVK 8 wt for dry fly fishing

Why not ? Most of the "fast 4's" today are about as stiff as a #8 ? :D

Just kidding now , so don't you fast guys get your hackles all twisted up !

Re: A question for the fun of it ?

A law such as this would not sit well with me either Jerry and surly I would rise in protest. I grew up not for from the Old North Bridge and Lexington Green.

Re: Thomas & Thomas ESP

I cant think of too many things that prove what a low life , bag less coward someone can be than to be a thief.

I have cast a ESP at the Thomas & Thomas factory on their pond. I do not recall if...

Re: A question for the fun of it ?

As I am sure you would guess , if the 8.5 Radian was too tip stiff for you it was off the chart for me in the #4 class. The mid section issue with the H2 I also noticed but could not figure out just...

Re: A question for the fun of it ?

I think you are going to like this rod. Hopefully you will write a review. Although I like casting the 486 Radian ,...

Re: A couple rods popular for sale

I thought of you and Ard when I spotted the 2 Orvis. I believe Ard prefers the pre 1980 series with the down locking seat. If I recall Jerry they called them "excellent condition " if that is so they...

Re: Are rodmakers changing their product lines a little too often?

I could have a field day or feeding frenzy with this but I am going to (try to) refrain.
