I use the 3" Westcott titanium bonded fine cut scissors, item #15150. They can be found a Wallyworld for about $6.00 Fine point and super sharp.

I tried the magnifier route and found it got in my way. I went to inexpensive reading glasses .I use 3 different ones depending on what I am tying. Get the small lens so you can quickly look over...

JP, you might want to look at Air-lock Indicators instead of Thingama Bobbers.
They are a bit more in price, but they don't crimp your leader. I like them much better.
