You could hit the Lower Illinois for trout. Its one of two places in Oklahoma that has trout year around. Depending on where you're at in Tulsa, an hour drive or little over an hour. About 90 miles...

I got my son in law the tfo finesse rod for his first fly rod. It reminds me of my redington ct rod. I also have a pro series tfo 8'6" 4wt. The 8'6" has more flex than the 9' rod I got my daughter....

I got in on a March brown hatch and they took both the dry and the pt nymph that I had tied on about 6" below. Time and place for different things. You fish how you like, there is no heresy.

Some people just dont care and could easily fish out a small stream real quick. Being tight lipped about certain places is a good thing for small streams to survive.

Make sure there is a pause in your backcast. The amount of pause is determined by the amount of line you are casting. You will learn to feel your rod load. I have to remind myself at times of this...

Depends, a certain rod would be better suited in different situations. As for length and a different feel to a certain type of rod, I can say yes. I have an 8'6" tfo rod and got my daughter the same...
