Re: Journey through East Idaho, Need advice!

I was also curious about a selection of flies that would be good to use for the area. I've got a pretty decent little selection of smaller ones but are there any that you would strongly recommend?...

Re: Journey through West Wyoming, Need advice please!

Well we are going to take a day to get to dubois from twin falls, spend a day in dubois (which is reserved for the event) and then a day to get back to twin falls, maybe 2 days to get back. We will...

Re: Journey through West Wyoming, Need advice please!

Thank you guys so much for your willingness to help me out. But thank you also for at least reading the short story about my Brother's Marine. There's a much more in-depth version of it but I gave...

Re: folding net

Not trying to threadjack but I'm not exactly sure how this gizmo works. Could you elaborate on it a little bit, please?

Here's 2 more fish I caught last Friday from the same stream.

Re: My little SD trout stream!

It's surprising how cold this water remains even during HOT days. About 90% of the creek never gets direct sunlight since the brush is so overgrown and remains in the shade under the trees and shrubs...

Definitely a fun place to fish! Probably my favorite spot that I've ever fished.

Re: My little SD trout stream!

Well to tell you the truth, this is how I learned to fish streams since everything where I grew up was congested like this so I just had to make it work. I use a 7'6" 2wt TFO Lefty Kreh Finesse and...

Re: Long lunch and local trout

Well I've been using 9ft 7x leaders with about a 20" piece of tippet just because that's what I have laying around and don't want them to just go to waste. But I was consistently running into the...

Re: My little SD trout stream!

Casting is almost impossible. it mainly consists of dapping and bow and arrow shots. Most drifts are about 6" long or else you'll likely lose the fly to the foliage.

I've never caught a golden but...

Re: My little SD trout stream!

Thanks bud! These fish are gorgeous. Most of the population is 5"-11" but there are some really big fish in here in relation to the size of this stream. The best part is that almost nobody knows...

My little SD trout stream!

Here's some pictures of my local fishing spot here in San Diego County. It is a VERY small creek and looks as if it would be completely devoid of any fish, much less Trout. They are all wild, native...

Re: Long lunch and local trout

Nice work! I use a 2wt TFO for little waters like you described and catch the same little fish. A light rod like that makes those little guys feel like a pig! How far is this spot from San Diego?

Re: Small stream Stories and Pictures;

I fixed it! It did survive the fires, thank god! I actually went up there yesterday and did pretty well. There are some BIG fish up in this creek!

Re: What's a pike minnow?

I've always called them "squawfish". They fight pretty good but I don't think they're very good eating. Here's an interesting link I just came across to get paid for them!

Re: No water in the SoCal trout rivers

Well, I didn't catch a damn thing on my fishing trip. My wife got frustrated and ended up throwing in a small Kastmaster to catch the only fish for the day: A SMALL wild brown trout. Maybe I just...
