Re: How long does it take from your home to the water?

15 minutes to the closest trout water. 1-2 hours to my favorites.

Re: The Driftless gang has been pretty quiet, anybody having any success?

The Iowa and Wisconsin streams have been fishing really well this year. With all the rain there have been days where the water is chocolate milk but the spring creeks generally become fishable in a...

Re: New Winston.....

Interested to see how this falls in the lineup and if it has any effect on GVX. Similar price point, all graphite, all around rod? But then again, it isn't green and I don't know where it will be...

Re: Winston GVX, Scoot, G. Loomis, St. Croix 4wt

The choice between the Imperial and GVX is a tough call that only you can make. I have an Imperial 7'6" 4 wt 2pc and a GVX 8' 4wt 4pc. Both nice rods in my opinion. For the subjective, I agree...

Re: Route Advice Sought.....

You should see plenty of corn fields through Iowa and Nebraska although the land along I-80 is going commercial in many areas. Take a side trip on some of the county roads and you will see nothing...

Re: Vest/pack with rod tube holders

I'm not sure if you want a way to carry a second rod for frequent switching between nymphs and dries or if you just want a new pack. If the former, then I would say much more of a pita to switch...

Re: Let's see your wallet

HaHa, I use the exact same one and thought I was being original. I got tired of money clips breaking after a couple years from being bent too many times to accommodate varying amounts of cash.

Re: 6wt Recommendation

If you don't mind used a Sage RPL would fit the bill. Very solid rod in the medium/fast range. They can be had in excellent condition within your budget.

Edit: Make sure it is the original RPL...

Re: Looking to add another rod...

Exactly what I was thinking when I read the original post. For example, I have a 486 ONE and a 479 Circa and they are totally different rods for different circumstances. I do not view them as...

Re: Hat in my hand asking for help

I have that jacket and am happy with it. The cuffs are 10X better than my Cloudveil. One thing to keep in mind, it is just a shell so size accordingly allowing room to layer under it in cooler...

Re: I just can't see it !

What power readers do you use? I use 1.5X cheaters for everyday use and 3.0X for tying which works well. The 4" focal length is closer than you would actually be to a fly. If you try the cheap...

Re: C-Clamp or Pedestal

If you are not sure which one you prefer tying on I would go with the pedestal. My reasoning is the new vise costs the same with either option but you can add an after market C-clamp cheaper than a...

A couple of winters ago I was bored and decided to see if I could build one of the collapsible ones just for kicks. I used a couple of old golf club shafts (need more than one so the sections can...

Re: Little tricks to share

If you use a profile plate try using a cheap 8x10 picture frame instead of something that clamps on the vise stem. You can move it wherever you want, change color with just a piece of paper and it...
