Re: Great day on the water playing Hookie from work

Nothing beats a day on the water! Interesting connection between skipping out on work and fishing. Is that where the term "playing hookie" comes from?

Be careful, your boss may be a member of...

Re: Northern Vermont

Good Morning Stan,

I lived in Vermont for 15 years. Are you looking to do stream, river or lake fishing?

Lots of options up that way.

I am looking for a "recipe" for tying HG Tapply's "Nearenuf" fly.

I have seen different patterns online and wonder if anyone has the "classic recipe"?

Some people would say, Tap would take the...

Re: Early Season - Central Vermont

I agree. The area behind the Dog Team Tavern holds lots of stockies this time of year. The junction of the New Haven with Otter Creek is also a hot spot.

You can't go wrong fishing your way...

Re: Fly fishing for school credit?

I ran a "virtual fly shop" called Vermont Streams on line from 1999-2003. In those early days I had to pay someone to customize a shopping cart system for me. I made a few dollars, met some great...

Re: Plannng Maine Trip in June

I recommend Grand Lake Stream. You will not be alone, but you can't beat hooking on to a salmon. Easy access to most spots. If you are looking for a wilderness experience, there are too many...

Re: Fishing Camp or a Lodge?

Just got back from visiting my camp/cottage. I had the good fortune years ago (inbetween marriages) of meeting the granddaughter of the owner of the "Three Star Camp" in the Adirondacks. I...

Re: Fishing Camp or a Lodge?

Thank-you great distinctions. My house is not large, but all open space on the first floor, which facilitates ""socializing". Fortunately, it will be with friends of my choosing....

Re: suggestions for 3-4 day back country trip

I fished this area with a guide last summer. Well worth the trip. The State of NY does a great job with their trials and campsites.

Fishing Camp or a Lodge?

Good Evening Fellow Anglers,

A while back you folks helped me compile a list of "Must Haves" in a Fishing Camp. I had a great time reading your suggestions and they helped me plan my place.

Re: fly line shelf life ?

Thanks for asking this question. I clean and dress my lines, but do not remove them from the reel. Do people think this is necessary?

Re: if you could go anywhere in the north east mid-feburary where would you go??

I recommend the Deerfield River in Western Mass. It is tailwater. Contact the Harrison Brothers. They guide float trips year round. Great guys who can put you on fish.

Re: My Hobbie is better than Your's

You are preaching to the choir here. A phrase that I enjoy: "The true joy in pursuing trout is that they live in the most beautiful places". I believe the author was Howell.

Re: How do you bring home the bacon?

I was an educator for 35 years. Chose early retirement after two of my fishing buddies passed away..... well before their time.

Fish less. Life is short my fellow anglers.
