Why do I have all this stuff?

I have found since I moved to Vermont that my entire relationship to the process of fly fishing has changed. Oddly, since I can walk to a river, I fish less, and when I do, it is generally not in...

Re: White River, VT

That is a good piece on the White River, jayr. To be honest, I only wade in the White River and only the areas I can walk to from my home. I generally fish more in the smaller streams coming off of...

Re: White River, VT

Just as a point of reference, the link supplied by the earlier poster is on the lower part of the river, with a take out at White River Junction, which about a 45 minute drive from the headwaters...

River recovery

Some time ago I posted about a local conservation group that had been working on the restoration of a branch of the White River in Vermont which was used as a gravel source after hurricane Irene. ...

Re: White River, VT

The White River has many branches, and though there are some areas that were damaged during hurricane Irene (gravel removed from the riverbed), most of the river and its branches are fishable and...

Re: Montana Wild made a booboo

I already irritated a nice guy on an earlier thread about the Fly Fishing Tour and my opinion of those kinds of films, so I don't want to ruffle any feathers.

But I have been making television...

Re: Fly Fishing Film Tour, Jackson, WY March 3

Well, to each his own.

I would say we have some really excellent examples of fly fishing literature, books written about this kind of fishing that is beautiful and serious in its exploration of...

Re: Fly Fishing Film Tour, Jackson, WY March 3

You know, as a fly fisherman and a filmmaker, I found the film tour a big disappointment when it ran in Middlebury, Vermont last year. I left halfway through.

One problem is that there are really...

Re: Good news for a branch of the White river

The destruction on that branch of the river was really kind of shocking. It became the source for gravel for a lot of the regional road and bridge repair after Irene and there was a lot of damage to...

Good news for a branch of the White river

This is a huge local project, rebuilding a mile of river destroyed by over enthusiastic gravel vendors after hurricane Irene. It has been amazing to watch.

Large wood improves habitat, flood...

Forgive me if this is obvious, but a search on Electronics, Cars, Fashion, Collectibles, Coupons and More | eBay (http://www.ebay.co.uk) shows a lot of Wheatley boxes of all ages. Not a bad...

Re: Ancient Fly Fishing Text

Anyone else notice the name of the first fly, Schlammler Elritze?

That translates as "Muddler minnow".

Re: Who makes bamboo rods at a good price

I developed a curiosity about bamboo rods and tried old Montigue (pretty awful) and read up on the subject and ended up with an 8 1/2 Ď Phillipson Pacemaker which you can get on ebay for between $150...

Here is what I have noticed about Vermont, having moved here in January:

There are a lot of rivers here, and millions of small streams. The rivers run very high in the spring and they are colored...

Re: JUST started fly fishing. Is this setup ok or is it wrong?

Youtube, books, advice from the forums and lawn casting are all very valuable, but there is no substitute for fishing with someone who really knows how to cast and how to read the water. You will...
