4. Although a 2 or 3 is always nice for simple setup. I find myself enjoying the compact setup of a 4 piece though.

Definitely a dry bag in a backpack. Not expensive and will save your gear if you take a spill!

Yes we could have lost the waders, but between bushwacking from hole to hole, misquitos, and trying to manage the river while carrying a camera... waders was our best option for the gear we have. ...
