Re: The Cost of a great fishing trip...?

I won't give specific numbers, but say that our trip with Ard cost a bit less than most lodges in the area. This included the floatplane flight out, and all end tackle. The personalized (personable?)...

Re: G.G. and I Fish Alaska!

You wrote of "the Alaskan experience", and it struck a chord. We went up there with very little expectations, or pre-conceived notions. We were just there to relax and have a good time. Which we did....

Re: help, help, help! Lost my phone!

It's not the phone, but the case. Yup, there are nearly bulletproof cases for these fancy smartphones. They're huge, but tuff!

FYI,

G.G. and I Fish Alaska!

Hello, Dear Reader,

Let's try this again. I had a beautiful thread going, buncha pics, and fat fingered it out of existence. Here goes:

After more than a year of planning, my friend Janet...

Re: Fly fishing options around Juneau, Skagway, Haines, etc?

This is a question for Mr. Hardyreels, he ought to see the thread before next year.

Halibut, I'm told is not a gamefish, but a meatfish. Salmon and trout are your quarry.

Yes, you can get...

Re: Fly rod assistance please

You write that your rod is tip heavy. Question: what reel are you using? How much backing? It may be a balance issue, you might be pleasantly surprised what adding a little weight in the right places...

Re: Alaskan Trip Thread 2015

Dewayne, you flew out as G.G. and I were flying in. We fished a different river, not far by AK standards, but a haul in a boat, I'm sure. Mr. hardyreels was a busy boy! I'll write a report in a...

Re: Yellowstone Experience - Crowds an Anomaly for 2015?

My theory: If it's worth fishing, it'll be crowded.

Went fishing with Boss and Ard, 100 miles into the AK bush, and we still saw people. :wow:

Just too many of us here on planet Earth, I...

Re: Which 7wt rod to buy

Dunno how exchange rates and shipping, etc. works out; but whenever folks ask about rods in that price range , my answer is TFO BVK or the St. Croix Imperial. Both worth more than they cost, IMO.

Re: How do you choose?

A 4wt. is a solid choice for here in CO, and IIRC, NY as well. A bit light for salmon/steelhead, but you're talking about 2 very different situations, IMO. You did spend your money, the One is a top...

Re: Leaving Civilization for 3 weeks

+1 on what's been posted already, my 2c:

- Hydrate or die. " I feel fine, I'm not thirsty."...
