Re: INEXPENSIVE Backup Recommendations

Ditto that! My next door neighbor got a 3wt CT last year and it is a sweet rod for the money. Keep looking as they many times go on sale for $80 or $90.

Re: "I Give Up...(almost)" Update

Chad,

Way to go! We all knew you could do it. I stink horribly at casting but I do it well enough to fish.

No matter what some people think, it is not intuitive to everybody,...

Re: Does everybody have that "one" fly that never seems to let you down?

I always wanted to tie and fish one of those. I have tried tying them in the past but they were harder than they looked (for me anyways).

You have inspired me to give it another go, Fred!

Does everybody have that "one" fly that never seems to let you down?

I don't mean a certain pattern or anything like that, I mean that one fly that just keeps going and going and producing like it was the Energizer Bunny?

I have this one foam pattern I like to use...

Re: Farewell to an old friend...

What great words of wisdom. Best thing is that this advice does not only pertain to dogs.

Best thing I have heard in a long time.

Re: Farewell to an old friend...

Don't do that to me!!!! We had the entire family in the teeny tiny examining room waiting for the inevitable at the end of May. This guy is a really good vet but...he doesn't know subtly at all. ...

Re: Farewell to an old friend...

Ditto what jaybo said.

I feel that way about the silly cat we have. We got him when my daughter was three. She is 20 now and the cat will be 17 in about two months. He has always been a pain in...

Re: 'ya don't miss it til 'ya don't have it

And here I was thinking you were going to talk about you actually missing your gall bladder! :icon_razz I guess you might miss it somehow if you eat a lot of fatty foods but it HAS to be better...

Re: Threading the hook: Top or Bottom?

Well, there you go. That was the exact reason why I started thinking about this: I crowded the eye. Except I find it easier to thread from the top while I squeeze the material back with my...

Re: Threading the hook: Top or Bottom?

I can golf. Sometimes I even hit the ball right. Actually I play pretty good except for I get bored after three or four holes. Then it takes seven strokes per hole after that.

You are right: it...

Re: What fly did you catch your first trout on?

Mine was a little streamer/wooly bugger sort of thing. It had a white bead and a piece of marabou wrapped as a tail and then palmered up the shank to the bead.

An older guy gave me it and...

Threading the hook: Top or Bottom?

I know I should probably know this but when you tie the fly on the tippet, do you thread it thru the top or up from underneath? And does it make a difference if the hook is straight or bent? And...

Re: Modern Marvels

Incredible what they can do these days, isn't it? Get well soon. And don't forget to milk this a little bit and see if you can take it easy and fish more than usual.

You really are missing the point, rick. Ard elegantly explained why it is not always about catching fish, as have others. We are all on this forum to talk about fly fishing. There is nothing the...

You nailed it, Ard! I was always "afraid" to pick up a fly rod but now I can't put it down. On Memorial Day, the family wanted to go to Lake Arthur here in SW PA, so we went. The kids wanted to...

Well, water is limited close to my house. This place is about 15 minutes away and I can sneak off there (sometimes) and get an hour or so in. I probably made it sound worse than what it might be. ...
