Re: Sage 2016 ?

Sage made the XI2 with G5 then went ahead and made the XI3 out of the same stuff. So the "Two" Konnetic rod can't be ruled out.

Re: 6'4" or 7'1" rod??

I prefer a 6'7" or a 7' 5". Just a better action.

Re: So, I don't have enough fly rods and I need some advice....

Personally, I like my Scott A4 1004, since the average fish on that rod has been 14-16". It can turn around and chuck a bobber very nicely as well. The Loomis Pro4X nymph rods look sweet also.

Re: Any comments on a Simms Bulkley Jacket - Nice Sales Price?

These were definitely not designed to go over a vest. The pockets are big enough to just about replace a vest.

Re: New Mid-Priced 5wt

For what it's worth, I'm extremely pleased with my Pulse 697. I imagine a 590 or 596 would be a solid choice. The first wiggle test made me think it was a broomstick, then I fished with it and fell...

Re: 7wt Streamer Rod

What about a slightly softer 8 weight? Most of those faster 7wt rods want a 250-280 sink tip anyway. Something like a B3X 890 or an Accel would be amazing with a shorter sink tip. I have a GVX Select...

Re: Smaller Stream Streamers Galloup Style.

Any thoughts on rods like the 7'10" 6wt Redington Predator for this style? I have a 250 grain Streamer Express lying around, it just doesn't work with my jiggy flies. I hit my friend in the face with...

Re: Smaller Stream Streamers Galloup Style.

I think you are over-thinking it. I like a 6wt on places like the Madison, around 200 feet across and windy all the time.

Creeks don't really necessitate a sinking line. Try a regular 8-9' 5wt...

Re: Thee streamer rod

I have thoroughly enjoyed my Pulse 697. Stiff enough to launch a Kreelex and a whole fly line (if I were that good), but bendy enough to turn around and throw indicators with an open loop. It also...

Re: 10 foot indicator rods

Will someone please get a closeout BIIIX 10' 4wt and post a report? I really just want to fish that rod vicariously through someone else.

Re: Thomas & Thomas - new rods

I get the feeling T & T is taking the same path Scott took over a decade ago with Jim Bartschi. Not the same exact old tapers, but still making some of the best fly rods on the planet. I'm excited...

Re: Finally got my prime rod!

Nice! If they are anything like the Greys rods were, they are amazing. I regret selling my Greys 6wt a year ago.

Re: Old travelers rant!

I had a raft full of topless ladies go by me in the middle of the wilderness on Friday. That made up for the crappy fishing, I guess. It was like 90 degrees and 40 mph wind.

Re: Winston Rod update

What other color would you expect on a Winston??? The black Nexus series does look great, but Winston Green should be listed in the Pantone book.

Re: 10 foot indicator rods

I regularly nymph fish a local small river (30-60 cfs) that would fit right in somewhere in Wisconsin. My absolute favorite rod for winter indicator fishing this stream is the Scott A4 10' 4wt. I...

Re: Favorite Western Trout rod?

Get the Radian 905 and two different lines for it. Get a 200 grain sink tip for streamers, a GPX type line for everything else. I like Airflo lines, super durable.

Re: How many of us are limited to one good rod?

If I were more fiscally responsible and used one rod, it would be a used medium action 8'6" 5wt. Probably a T&T Paradigm, LPS, an IM6, or a Scott G.

If I were to use just two rods it would be my...

Re: 3wt 9ft rod options for Nymphing

I have a good feeling about the Redington Hydrogen 3wts- they have a 9', 10', even an 11-footer! They look sweet.

Re: 3wt 9ft rod options for Nymphing

I somehow came across a San Fran Scott G 903 under $250 back in May. I'm not sure a better fly rod exists. Just incredible feel and accuracy at all distances, and surprisingly fast with a Superfine...

Re: Catching numbers of fish

It depends where and when you fish. If I could be on my favorite rivers during the best hatches every time, I would catch at least 10 every trip. I've been fishing mountain creeks for smaller...

Re: Addiction to fly rods? How many.

Apparently I have 12. I could get by with a 6wt and a 3wt, but that would be so boring!
5'10" 3wt
7'6" 4wt
7'7" 5wt
8' 3wt
8' 6wt
9' 3wt
9' 4wt
9' 5wt
9' 5wt

Re: my next rod

Most of the rods I get come and go. If you consider all the rods I sold for $100 more than j paid along with the ones I lost money on, I'm about even. I have a few rods that I will fish until either...

Re: my next rod

I just ended up with an incredible pair of fly rods I plan on using as often as I can while the fish are looking up. I got a Scott G 903(never even knew they made this rod) and a T&T Paradigm 904....
