Re: Me, too, Wabi---Make the most!

I'm trying to remember what exactly I posted. In any case, the fishing trip did not pan out, aside from a nice day on the Michigan's Huron River with my brother, part of my usual family vacation...

Kansas already has a top level program for leasing hunting and fishing access, and it just...

Re: Cabelas Three Forks Six Weight???

I'm no expert on rods, but Three Forks 6 wt. is what I use. My budget doesn't permit a lot of rods, so I can't compare.

When the Three Forks comes up in discussion, a general theme is they're good...

Re: Required to fence or post private property?

In Kansas, all private land is off limits without permission of the landowner. That includes rivers except the Arkansas, the Missouri and the Kansas rivers, and on those you have to stay within the...

Re: Angler Category

I put "other" because there was no category for "flyfishing 100% of the time with a generally befuddled look and strangely endearing level of incompetence."

Seriously, I put "other" because I go...

Re: Beginner here - Advice welcome

Welcome aboard!

My tips:

Casting: Let the backcast unfurl. When you make the forward and backward strokes, both accelerate to a stop. At the stop,...

Re: Figuring things out

Sage advice from McNerny.

it's certainly not a mistake to go with what the flyshop guys said as they probably know as much as anybody else, especially on a stream you don't fish much. That's as...

Re: Trout Parks

There's variation in how each park is set up as far as fishing zones. I understand Meramec is basically any bait or tackle anywhere. Some of them have fly only areas or bait/soft plastic only areas....

Re: Trout Parks

Advice here is based on Bennett Springs State Park bear Lebanon. (check out ozarkanglers. com and Missouri Trout Hunter).

1. The number one mistake in the parks is to fish too shallow. You want to...

Re: Meramec Springs

There's a quirk at Bennett Springs, especially this time of year that might apply to Meramec:

This time of year, I find that I have to switch flies frequently. I think the fish are learning what's...

About ten years ago on the Kansas Turnpike. Totaled an Oldsmobile.

One near miss on a cow elk in Estes Park, Co. When they put up signs that say you should watch out for elk in the city limits of...

The last three places I've fished, a tube would have come in handy: either...

Re: You just paid $50 for nippers. What's Next?
