Re: Is it the pattern or the presentation??

Presentation is paramount, but with that said, I believe the way the fly presents itself can be equally important (this is in reference to swinging for steelhead, particularly winter fish). I catch...

Re: Resolutions. Stupid things I am going to quit doing this year...

Jesus H,....I'm sorry. Really really wasn't trying to insinuate that or insult anyone. I've been down that road and all I was saying is I now enjoy exploring more water rather than letting a run get...

Re: Resolutions. Stupid things I am going to quit doing this year...

My desire to prod a fish into biting has just waned. I have the most fun with aggressive fish, those fish that don't need excessive coaxing to come out and play. Maybe it's a respect thing. A two-way...

Re: Resolutions. Stupid things I am going to quit doing this year...

I'm going to stop swinging through a run 2-3 times. Swing through, have confidence, move on to new water no matter what the results were.

Re: History/Quality of Thomas & Thomas rods

My Helix is the most pleasurable casting piece of graphite I own, and the best looking.

Re: Opinion on chinese or korean built rods?

Leftist beliefs? That's a first.

Again, I wasn't taking shots at anyone's skill. Put a 100ft belly on one of my rod's and it's not going to perform in my hands like will in a better caster's...

Re: Opinion on chinese or korean built rods?

No, I don't realize who I'm talking to. I just know that any caster worth his salt wouldn't try to claim that all rods rolled up in asia are sub par unless they 1) aren't really able to distinguish a...

Re: Opinion on chinese or korean built rods?

It's not personal. Every caster/fisher has a different level of experience. It's not a knock. Those with experience know it matters not what country the graphite lay-up process was done.

Re: Opinion on chinese or korean built rods?

You probably haven't used a Loop, Vision, Bruce & Walker, or Guideline blank then. Or you have and your skills don't allow you get the top notch performance that they are capable of.

Re: Switch reel question?

If it's for freshwater, all a drag does is give the potential for failure. You don't need it unless you're in the salt. Get a g&p reel.

re: Keepemwet Photo Contest is Now Open for Judging--Place a "Like" on Your Favorites!!

Mcnerney, this is the best photo contest idea ever. Good on ya.

I'll enter. My photo is pretty weak, but the fish was not. My biggest steelhead yet, approaching the 14-15lb range. I was too amped...

Re: Find of a Lifetime!!!!

Hopefully it wasn't stolen. Typically someone would know what their gear is worth. Could have been a death I suppose. The bamboo isn't as surprising as the new gear.

Re: Best fighting fish?!

Smallies and Steelhead. About 50% of the steelhead I catch are very strong fighters. About 80-90% of the smallies are very strong fighters. Carp fight well, but aren't as reckless and tweaked out....
