Re: What's happening to Hardy

As I see it, they can't use the same manufacturing process and sell at WalMart pricing. Quality will suffer with the use of cheaper materials and less attention to detail. Mass production and hand...

Re: What is your favorite Brand and model fly Rod?

My favorite ? My rods are like children, can't pick one over the other. My favorite is always the one I'm with at the time. I tend to favour my 4 weights and have 5 of them. :D

I have to agree, one of the better buys for the money. I have both the 590 and 690 RPL GFL III and will never part with them...no matter what my better half says ! I'm just sorry they aren't four...

Re: Choosing the "correct" rod length.

IMHO the idea of the ideal rod length and weight is over done. The individuals that have an "arsenal" of rods in a variety of lengths and weight usually love rods in general and love to collect them...

Re: Tippet rings?

I have been using the 2 mm tippet rings from our friends at CutThroat Leaders and love them. Any smaller and I would have trouble handling them. Mine are black in colour. Next season I will...

Re: Harley Reno's MWB

Thanks for the help Flytire. Looks like what I had envisioned. I have a Norvise as well. I'll get busy and get the components and tie up a bunch. I need the practice. :D

Re: Are rodmakers changing their product lines a little too often?

I have always respected those whom have strived to "improve" anything in this world, especially in my favorite hobby. There is no doubt in my mind that rod designers do so because they have the same...

Harley Reno's MWB

I just started tying a few months ago and am interested to know if anyone here ties the MWB ...(La Mouche ? ) woolly bugger pattern. This fly apparently was demonstrated on YouTube by Harley Reno...

Re: Are rodmakers changing their product lines a little too often?

IMHO, not that significant to the average FF. Marketing BS from the manufacturers that feel compelled to introduce their lineup for next season as "new and improved" in order to stay ahead of the...

Re: I thought Canadians were supposed to be easygoing...

No one country has a monopoly on crazies. We can't carry handguns legally so a snake might be a good means of self defence. Sure would get an attacker's attention if you handed him a snake in...

Re: Rod Love; the Fly Rod Picture Thread

Ard, your Hardy brings back memories of a 8'-6" " Deluxe Salar" that Hardy produced for my region. I bought it new (late 70's ?) and paired it with a #7/8 Hardy Golden Prince. Sat in the closet and...

Re: Need a reel for a sage VXP 5wt

I had the 479 VXP and fished it with a Waterworks Lamson Litespeed 1.5 and a RIO Gold WF. I really liked the action and balance of that combo. Take a look at the new Lamson lineup. Decent trout reels...

Re: Brodin Pro Ghost Firehole or Gallatin?

Before you drop that much cash on a Nomad, check out the Brodin website. Chris is introducing a new Stealth (100%) graphite net in early 2015. Should be less than the Nomad at $115.00 and NOT a...

Re: Taylor Reels on the Forum

IMHO, I can't agree with the statement. Beauty is only skin deep. I guess that you only get what you pay for and if that is what you are looking for good for you. In my mind many of these reels are...
